Great idea.

I have had them on for a month or maybe a couple months. They don't do anything for everyday driving really, the only place I saw a difference was after doing a run at autocross the intake temps wouldn't spike as much while waiting for my next run.

It is 100% worth it just for the look on people's face at tech inspection though... when they lift that hood and you can see that 24k gold reflecting off of their confused face...

Thanks! Man that stuff is pricey. I bet it helps delay heat soak though. It would work much better on the lower intake manifold.

It does help with heat soak, just not for that long.
And I thought about doing the LIM, as it would be the most effective place... but then I would have to get to the LIM to actually do it... and probably take it out to do it right...

Things to think about...

...god why did you have to say that, now I'm going to have to try it.

This is completely unrelated, but I was reading another thread trying to figure out what foam to get to put around the radiator and was wondering if you knew what the stuff you used was called.

I don't know what it was called but it;s square ( 2" x 2" I think) and they sell it at Lowe's. I think it's listed in the Mizu radiator install thread I created.

This?

Also do you think you can put this stuff on without pulling the radiator?

A lot of people don't like it, but I like the look of it. I've been thinking about getting a custom sticker from ihatestickers that says
"Because.... Spaceship?" and sticking it on top of the airbox

I understood that reference! That is my favorite engine bay I have seen on an 8 by far, though. Everything serves a purpose. Well done. You'd probably see a great benefit from relocating the battery as well.

I thought about this after reading the thread on relocating batteries, I had a Celica I tried doing it on ages ago and had horrible results... I was 16 and an idiot though, but it has still left a bad taste in my mouth.
Also the 15lbs of added heavy gauge wire to run it to the trunk didn't sound that appealing either.
That and I'm fond of trunk space in my trunk. Does it help significantly with temperatures? I have a vented hood so the open space might have a dramatic impact on air movement though...

On a side note I grew up in Deland and my brother used to live in New Smyrna.
