Aftermarket alarm

okay so i bought a viper 5901 alarm system for my car and i am having a problem.

the problem i am having is that the stock alarm (horn and emergency flashers) that came with the car keeps going off every now and then and i have no idea why. i took it to the place where i got it installed and they said that they could not disconnect the factory alarm and that they ran the new alarm right through the factory alarm.

does anyone else have this problem? Or does anybody who has an aftermarket alarm know if where they got it installed took out the factory alarm?

Any help would be nice! Thanks

They did it wrong.........

good luck.

As far as I know we don't have an alarm. Auto fuel shut off, which is completely different. That auto theft deterent.

Yes they did it wrong but ...

we do have an alarm ...

if someone break the glass (assume you have shock sensor installed), the alarm will go off (adjust your sensitivity)
if someone force open the door, alarm will go off.

Fuel cut off its just one of the theft deterrent's feature so they cant just "hot wire" the ignition ...

Its all connected to the ECU and key module system ...

Why would you want another alarm anyway ?

if you install shock sensor I dont really see the point of having an aftermarket alarm. not to mention Viper alarm sucks anyway. it could be disabled really easily.

Well when i bought the car the clicker was broke so i wanted one that worked. also, it has other features like the tilt sensor and i could have remote start if i wanted. just some features i like to have.

but anyway, i nor they (installers) have any idea how to fix the problem. i am just looking for someone who has had an aftermarket alarm put in and knows if they had to cut or do something to any wires of the factory setup.

thanks

I dont think remote starting a Manual car is a good idea. but each to their own.

yeah well with this alarm system the car has to be in neutral and the emergency brake has to be pulled for the car to remote start
