advice on running my rx8

Hi
I bought a rx8 192 (2005) last week and so many people are given me different advice on how to run it, i kinda understand the way the rotary engine works but im told you have to be careful not to flood the engine and this is easily done by stop starting when its cold, so in effect im not able to just pop to the shop 2 mins away ???
if this is the case then im going to struggle to get used to this.
also i dipped the oil and found creamy sludge on the stick, again i was told this is normal for the rx8 ????
can anyone answer these issues and advice me on how i can prevent my car from flooding, oh i was also told that this particular year model was modified to stop the flooding, is this true ???

many thanks

Mid way thru the 2005 model year an uprated starter and stronger battery were substituted. There was also a voluntary (free) recall for same for prior manufactured 8's. If you have the stronger starter and a good battery you need not worry about the cold start flooding issue. There's of course already a detailed thread on this.

Correct, the milky oil is simply condensation and not an issue. There's of course already a detailed thread on this.

There's of course already a detailed thread on everything related to this vehicle at this point..

Yeah, just read the sticky for new owners - you'll find most of the answers you're looking for right there.

Regarding the milky tan substance on the oil dipstick: it happens in very cold weather and is inconsequential. But it is disconcerting; Mazda issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) to its dealers with a fix. So if it bothers you, the dealer can install a part that will stop that from happening.

Enjoy your new 8!

It may be a fuel pump issue, especially if you're over 60k miles.
Other than that it may be a compression problem or a clogged catalytic converter.

As cited by bse50, typically marginal fuel pump or low compression.

Again, there's a thread for that (as everything else at this point): https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...t=warm+restart
