acv metal pipe

So I'm in the process of taking my ssv out and cleaning it but I've gotten stuck. Ive already taken out the acv but unfortunately it is looking like im gonna have to take out the acv metal pipe also because it will not bend far enough. Does any one know how to take this off? I tried searching but came up with nothing.

  1. Jack up the car
  2. Remove the front-passenger tire
  3. Remove splash shield from inner fender
  4. Remove the 2 nuts securing the pipe to the exhaust manifold
  5. Disconnect the jet-air hose from the LIM
  6. Remove bolts attaching the jet-air pipe.
  7. Remove hard pipe.

Thanks. I was wondering if you would be the one to answer. I've been following your thread religiously while doing this lol. I appreciate it. Now I should be able to finish rather quickly

That hard pipe can be a PITA to remove because of its location.
So much so that I never remove it when working on the SSV.
Its less work to just bend the pipe out (helps having a 2nd person to do it, but I've done it solo).

Ok. I'll try to keep bending it. The only thing blocking is that extra metal piece on the side that bolts it to the thermostat. I just can't lift the darn thing high enough to get off of the front stud.

Ok I got it. However a new problem arose. How do you get the thermostat housing out? The lower part of the thermostat. I removed the hoses and only found one bolt. What else is holding that on?

There are three nuts that secure the thermostat... two towards the front of the car and one towards the rear.

Is that the top part or the huge lower portion?

Maybe this pic will help better:

Sucks I'm not near my spare engine... a pic with it attached would probably help more, but you should get the idea.
