about oil pressure guage

about oil pressure guage

if i would to buy a Prosport oil pressure gauage , do i need the Oil Filter Adaptor Plate ?

Yes, get the prosport oil filter adapter, it's a good one with four ports.

I guess you own a Series 1 RX-8??

Series 2 or 2009~ does not need any adapter plate.

whats a series 1 ? ...my 8 is 2004 ? would it not work ??

Series I, 1, one from 2003/4 to 2008
Series II, S2, Two from April, 2008 onwards or called 09's, 2009's,2010's


So if yours is 2004 then it is an S1 or Series I, 1 or one.

hey sheeple, I'd install a fuel pressure gauge long before an oil pressure gauge

installing a FP gauge is easier then installing an oil pressure gauge, no special part needed. Could go down to almost any car parts store and walk out with everything you'd need to do it.

I would guess, and this is just why I don't have one (yet), that most people don't do a FP gauge before an OP gauge since they're NA and not FI. Oil and it's many properties are a bigger issue for NA cars whereas fuel starvation becomes a bigger concern for FI and track guys.

You're much more likely to have FP issues on an S1 than OP issues, even Eric Meyers stated here that they don't even monitor OP on their race cars, it's just not an issue. On the otherhand the S1 fuel pump is known for going weak and crapping out. So if you're FI or on the OE pump you better be keeping an eye on it, especially when taking long sweepers at the track.

my point is that ... a lot of ppl said changing oil is "too hard" ... so ... yeah ... installing FP gauge is hard ...

I would like to install my oil temp gauge by tapping into the engine other than using an adapter plate at the oil filter. Any suggestions on the best place and method? i will be using a taller filter and don't want to lose any room by having a plate there. Thanks.
