8 wont start
ok so i dropped an engine in my 04 mazda rx8. automatic. i hooked everything up and now when i try to start it, it wont. when i do, the engine turns and and the air pump gets goin, but thats it. Im a mechanic but i am not familiar with the rotaries, any suggestions? i know its gotta be spark or fuel maybe so thats what ill check first. thanks

What kind of diagram are you looking for?
When I swapped an engine it took a long time to get it started.
It sounded (and smelt) like a flooded engine so we treated it as such.
I was told by other members later on that its not uncommon for our engine to have a difficult time starting the first time.

well i went out and took the plugs out, they were a bit dark but not soaked i cleaned them with carb. cleaner and put them back in. i left one out, i connected that one and held it up to ground and cranked the engine and got a jump so there IS spark. maybe it might be a gas problem? there is pressure in the lines, i disconnected one and got sprayed. pump also seems to work. so i am guessing the injectors might not be firing. does anyone know any method of testing to see if there are pulsations? im gonna try to get a noid light but im just asking. a diagram of the injector circuit would be helpful.

The Service Manual shows how to test the injectors:

I have my doubts on the injector (especially if you have pressure), but try it out if you like!

i got a good set of noid lights from harvard freight, no signal, my next step is to get a diagram and try to figure that out. maybe a common ground? idk. if anyone has any other ideas or thinks that i am not in the right path please let me know since i am not too familiar with these engines. thanks
