3305G Recall stickers? Needed or not?
Ok I've seen a few people asking about thier recalls and 'if' they were performed. People have shown screenshots of thier recall stickers now afixed to the car.
I do not have any. When I contacted my dealer, they said there were no such stickers (obviously wrong since people showed photos), and that the recall was done correctly and is now 'closed' in Mazda's system.
1) Are the stickers necessary for any future possible warranty claims?
2) Will non-mazda repair centers even know the car's PCM is no longer to original manufacturer spec's should they need to work on it? (I'm assuming thats the purpose of one of the stickers).
Other than that.. recall seemed to have gone flawlessly.. (actually I can't even tell it was done other than the line on my paper work request).

if the recall was done then it will show in mazdas computer, so there wont be any problem of it comming up in future warranty issures.
The problem is that it seems as if dealers are taking the car in for the recall, but not doing the recall, just entering the VIN in the computer and marking it as 'completed' and not doing any work on the car (ECU flash, inspection).
Right in the instructions for the recall service it tells the dealers tech to fill out and affix the sticker to the fire wall, under side of hood, or driver door jam.
If you dont have a sticker you can do the rev test to see if the flash was done on the car, it could be that the dealer was out of stickers or forgot, but it could be they didnt do the work.
It took my 4 differnt trips to 2 dealers to get the service actualy done.

mazda generally requires dealer to affix a label either under the hood above the radiator, on the bottom of the hood or in the inside of the drivers side door for major recalls and campaigns. I've got 4 stickers now....

Rev test:
1. Strap on a sizable pair of solid brass cojones.
2. Start your 8, let it warm up and put it in neutral.
3. Rev it to greater than 8500 RPM and hold it there.
If the firmware change was done the PCM will force the engine back to idle after 10 seconds. If not, things will eventually start melting under the car.

Mine didn't have the sticker either after recall work was performed. Also the reflash was not indicated on the receipt. I called MNAO to confirm that the recall was actually done. They contacted the dealer and the additional info was included on a reprint of the receipt I later picked up. I'm **** when it comes to keeping consistent and accurate records.

And my personal favorite (which has nothing to do with your post)
Sorry, I liked your response and it gave me a chance to have some fun with the new smilies...
Peace
