04 auto flooded

Yesterday, my 04 RX8 automatic with 24k miles flooded for the first time and needed to be towed in. All recall updates have been done along the way..Last month, new plugs with the new flash. The dealer said today he put in new starter with faster revs, new plugs again, new battery. It's working ok again, BUT, he claims that it could use what sounds like a fuel system flush to eliminate carbon build up. I asked why when I use shell high test and only have 24 k miles. He said that they all need it between 20 and 40 k miles. NOT covered by warranty. This sounded bogus so I declined. What's the deal here? Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks,
Best, Craig.
BTW, what's the chances I'll need a new engigine down the road anyway...so why should I pay tyo flush this one?
