I think its actually perfect......and no.....STI sucks worse than us......all I'm actually complaining is probably that so many things are for manuals and they can mod so much to get out of their cars.....but we are.....??????

Why did you get an AT??? If you test drove you should have felt the difference.
I'm in line for a Pettit s/c on the first batch and have an appointment with Steve Kan for tuning. I'll post my Dyno runs and feelings sometime after May 6th.

i got mine in manual because my dad wouldnt let me get a manual, oh well the car still handles AMAZINGLY i think thats what people forget! yes our cars are a little slow in the acceleration but still, there are still many things that people can do to the car. the limiter? if you want it gone that much then just by an int-x and take it to a performance shop and ask them to readjust the redline so that your car doesnt blow up while your pushing it. Pettits SC is on its way and should deliver more power and torque. not very much but, still more power. by the way, i wouldnt say that the STI is worse than us, maybe the impreza and MAYBE the WRX but not the STI. and if im wrong then tell that to the guy who owns both cars who kicked my *** in racing.

Bummed, but bring on OU!
Why does anyone feel it's necessary to go above 125mph? Even on most tracks, at the modified power levels we're looking at, 125 is about as fast as you'll get. Besides, 4spds must shift to 4th to get above that, and acceleration dies off severely. I'm more concerned with how fast I can get to 125, than whether or not I can go higher. And remember to keep those triple digits off the public streets.
Just because the car will never be as fast as an equally modified MT, doesn't mean it's hopeless. Most people will never modify their car, so you'll be faster than them, if that really matters to you. Even a mere 200rwhp on FI makes the 4AT much faster than it is stock. If you need to beat on Evo's and such, buy a different car.
Some will say it's pointless to modify the ATs because they'll never be as fast as the MT is capable of. I say...there are people out there who modify 1970 4cyl Volvo's. Those are the true enthusiasts. $4000 on the AT will net you higher straight line gains than the same $4000 on the MT. So up to a point, it makes more sense to spend the money on the AT.

and thankyou all, I see the light now, when's that S/C coming out?
I do love speed, but I love my car also, the reason for not turbo is because I dont want to blow my engine, same with NO2
I just feel a bit trapped cus I drove manual for the last 4 cars, and I miss the clutch, and seeing that AT rx-8 sucks alot worse than MT just makes me wanna.........

A bad tune on either a SC or TC will blow anything up.
I was very diligent on what I needed to do to the greddy kit before it was installed. Also after it was installed it was tuned right away. I don't have extra money to buy the rebuild kit if i blew up the motor.
Right now I'm running 8 psi and the 8 is a totally different drive now.

I'm of the opinion no car is hopeless, you can make anything fast, it's all just a matter of how hard you want to work and more realistically, how much $$$ you have to spend

09factor, thankyou for the info, so basically what is better for the rx-8 auto? because I saw most of the turbos are tuned for the MT, and the supercharger(Blitz) is the only one that has an auto option?

I too bought an AT ($18,000 for a 2004 GT with 16,000 miles) because I couldn't pass up the deal. I always loved the 8's styling and handling. It always amuses me to hear people talk of the A/T as being a whole different car and hearing that it's not "true" 8. I thought we bought these cars for their great handling, styling, and smooth rotary power. Both the M/T and A/T will deliver this experience. Yes...if I could have found a M/T for the same price and options I would have bought it because I do prefer the M/T. But...I don't regret my purchase decision and still enjoy owning and driving the car. As for modding an A/T......

The reason for that is because the most people who buy autos are not the "modding" type. Most of the people who buy them are usually older or prefer a smoother ride with less hassles. If you want more juice outta your AT, get a turbo with a NO2 kit and change the ratio on your rear diff. That'd make you pee yourself!
