takes the enjoyment out of the sports car concept. You have much more control over your car with an MT.
actually with M/T you have to "do more to have control of your car". Shifttronic allows you to have the same control as far as shifting, with less work(no clutch)....... and less power ....errr

HomicidalApple I just tracked my RX8 and using full auto is actually easier and made for better times at the track than using manual mode, I doubt that using a manual rx8 would have been easier to drive, just faster due to more powerful engine. I'm driving the 4 port version.

I don't know about the 4 speeds, but the 6 to me the auto mode totally messed up gear changes when you need a certain gear most. It tends to stay in a higher gear than you want. Like your going 35mph, it's in 5th gear, you whip around a corner and mash the gas and nothing happens because it stay is 5th too long where as with the manual mode, you can prepare for it, switch the gear lower mid turn to get the speed at the other end.

Thats me though, I just find the auto mode just doesn't keep up with what you need it to do. Manual mode alleviates this...well mostly.

Driving around town it's fine in auto.

exactly, If I'm just DD auto mode does the job just fine, but for anything else, I have to use paddles or it just doesn't keep up with what you need it to do. The 4 speed could be totally different though.

4 speed 4 port auto just plain old sucks as manual mode when tracking the car. Tested several times, I think the 6 speed 6 port auto in paddle shift mode should be much better.

Just stay away from taking a U turn in manual mode when racing a 4 port 4 speed auto, the transmission just goes crazy specially if DSC activates itself. It will actually shift up to 2nd or 3rd when coming out of the turn in order to avoid a spin. Best is to use it auto mode and play with the gas pedal at exit corner to shift down = smash it at the very end, it will automatically shift down to 1rst when needed.

question I'm I the only idiot racing a stock 4 port? lol <---don't answer j/k

I think Easy or someone else ran 4ports at tracks before. I think the 4port does pretty well on auto-x, with that MASSIVELY LONG second gear. I'm not so sure though :x
