Nope, 125mph like the others. 122-123 in 3rd.

Getting rid of the limiter should be as simple as raising the rev limit, I would think. An ecu capable of taking over fuel injection should do the job. (Is it a fuel or ignition cut, or a throttlebody thing?) Going over 125 seems like a worthless goal if you're not modded heavily (FI) (and on a track). Getting from 125 to 130 will take forever with the .69 4th gear (4AT).

The only thing that keeps me below 150 mph (240 km/h) is the tire ratings and it would suck to have a tire blowout at that speed.

sosonic, are you stock?

i have the 04 AT and ive made it to 130ish with stock ecu.. and for the warranty. it all depends on how good you are with your dealership. ive gone into my dealership and i told them i take it to the track and stuff and tell them i get on it, they are surprised on how well the RX8 performs.

It is true. I maxed out on the thru way at 125. Would not let me accelerate any further. Nobody was on the road.

125 is the max speed for the 2005 and up. In 2004 they did not have the speed limiter. I know of a person on this forum that has gone 153 in his 2004 AT.
There is NO way to eliminate the speed limitations of the newer '8s.

Will the speed limit still be there with a piggyback like the Interceptor? I haven't tried 125 yet, but maybe I will at Road America sometime.

Mazdamaniac's site says it removes the speed limiter, I believe with the cobb or an interceptor you can remove it. I don't know what else will remove it or the rev limiter.

Does anyone with a Cobb or Int. + AT rx8 have proof of them going over 125?

What would you consider proof? Since those of us that have done so you would now consider lairs. I have never had a speed limiter. I had shift limiters until the install of the AP and now they have been raised considerably but still there.

Phil,

We need the data file from the flux capacitor

Only way I can think of to supply any form of "proof" would be to take a picture of the dash when you are doing 150+ at one of your open road races, but I would not recommend that Either that, or give an independent witness a ride during one of your races, but then you might have to hose out the passenger seat

I am not sure you could get anyone to get into the car during the road races let alone take pictures. As a quick overview for those of you that do not know, there are open road races in Nevada where they close off sections of a highway and let you tell them how soon you will be a point B and at what your maximum speed will be during the race. You have to be careful not to exceed your stated speed by more than 10% and not show up early or late to point B. There is no limit to your stated speed (except for safety issues of your ride) or time to arrive you just need to set it and then live by it. I no longer qualify for speeds above 130 due to new safety requirements. Last year there were three RX8s in the race and while none of us finished in the money we all finished. The highway picked always has extended straight sections that are relatively flat, up hill from 3000' to 7000' and back down and usually about 350 to 400 miles in length. You only get one gas stop that you have 5 minutes to complete. Your slowdown time before and after the gas stop comes off your time. Keep in mind also that the whole race happens on open range - bring extra shorts.

I'm not calling anyone a liar. I'm just curious because some are saying this and some are saying that (limiter cannot be removed, limiter CAN be removed by Cobb AP, etc etc).
