oil filters are recommended to be changed every two years. they use this brand http://www.magnafilter.com.au can be bought off ebay for around $30.00

tofu_box 06-11-2010 10:47 PM

which one in particular or doesnt matter?

http://cgi.ebay.com/MagnaFilter-Mag-...item335d8fb4d8

rotarenvy 06-11-2010 10:50 PM

you want the one that looks like this page

http://www.magnafilter.com.au/magnefine.html

I'm not sure if they have different oil line sizes. I'll measure mine and get back to you.

tofu_box 06-11-2010 11:02 PM

my one measured to be 1/2 12mm

nycgps 06-12-2010 05:12 PM

you can get a strong magnet for around 10 bux that can withstand the heat ...

yeah and then you have to attach it to the oil lines some how. then you still need a $15 paper oil filter.

yeah it might work but why risk your $3000 SC for a $30 filter that lasts 2 years?:wallbash:

I dunno what filter ur kit uses but 15 bux a paper oil filter sounds kinda expensive to me.

For me, I would rather just change the filter every 6 months or so than adding a magnet to it and try to use it for 2 years.

we are not adding a magnet. the company specifies a magnetic filter. there is probably a very good reason they want the magnet due to the friction drive.

for this supercharger a 2 years service interval is fine. my oil is still looking pristine and is just due for it's first service.

what im trying to say was, you can just add a magnet to oil filter and forget about that 30 bux magnetic filter thing.

and what I'm trying to say is buying a magnet and a filter will cost a similar amount to a purpose made filter and your getto device may or may-not work as the manufacture intended. so why risk a very expensive SC over a few dollars?

u gotta remember, there is not much to be filtered in a SC oil system. this is also why you dont need to change it as often.

enough thread crapping, I'm finished with this pointless discussion. :yelrotflm

I can't wait to see how it looks, tofu good luck with the install

tofu_box 06-13-2010 11:50 PM

lol, well i called bullets today, i just got the rotrex filter. 50 bucks

What rotaryenvy says is correct though, why risk 3500 dollars worth of parts for a simple 30 dollars.

tofu_box 06-14-2010 05:10 AM

ok a update.

Almost all the parts are here

Just waiting on BHR to finish building the radiator.

The installation is going to be stalled till July, as i have my gf's 21st in end of june

(i completely forgot.....)

So gonna take the money out to take her overseas as thats what she really deserves.

If your saying wTFG#&%^) gf > over ?!?!

Reason is she has always been against me modding my car, but she still buys me things such as my rims/gauges/oil cooler :) So its time to repay her.

Anyways, the feed center gauge pod will arrive next week or so, im going to install the first 3 gauges, oil pressure/temp, water temp.

I want to see the temps my car is running at N/A so i can better judget the cooling management when its FI.

I have searched the information from others here, but i think a real life observation at my altitude, driving pattern, weather will warrant a better result.

lzhmax 06-15-2010 07:26 AM

hey tofu box,
Just wondering do u need to roll ur fenders for the BuddyClub rims? Im getting a set of ADVAN RS which have the same size and offset as urs.
Cheers,
Max

tofu_box 06-15-2010 02:17 PM

nope but i think it depends on your tires though

lzhmax 06-16-2010 03:32 AM

im planning to get 245/35, i think should be fine

auzoom 06-16-2010 04:24 AM

No issues there except the odd size

lzhmax 06-16-2010 07:20 AM

Thanx Andrew

lzhmax 06-16-2010 07:24 AM

BTW, tofu
do u think it's possible to put this kit on s2 now?
i found out they do make 4 beat tuning for s2

tofu_box 06-17-2010 12:14 AM

no idea, i dont see why not though, except the ecu management

lzhmax 06-17-2010 01:13 AM

yeah, anyway, how much hp do u expect from it?

tofu_box 06-17-2010 01:34 AM

i am aiming at a reliable 200-230 hp from rear wheels

More then enough for me as a DD.

so about a 70hp improvement

lzhmax 06-17-2010 02:32 AM

thats enough for AT, is it safe for the engine?

it's not the form of FI bing used that makes it safe or unsafe. Its the quality of the tune that makes the applied form of FI safe or unsafe to the motor.

So if it's a great quality tune that is done properly, all should be fine.
