ATF cooler thread revival

So a while back I was asking around about installing an additional transmission cooler, I think one of the members may have done so and added a device that increases the fluid level pressure (?) as well. I went digging for that thread unsuccessfully so I'd like to ask again, has anyone installed an extra tranny cooler on their cars? What all is involved? I've googled and saw where some people are just putting them inline and attaching them to their radiators and such, I'd like to see if anyone out there can offer some up some RX-8 specific info though, such as parts needed, what size/brand/etc. they went with etc.. I haven't really dug around my engine bay trying to figure out how the stock one works yet, was hoping maybe someone else has. I'd like to do one, probably mount it on the right side where the other oil cooler normally goes, if and when I do if nobody has anything I'll see if I can't post a diy or something. Thanks in advance for your help/suggestions.

edit: would something like this work?

awesome, I remember some of the stuff I saw in the original thread. So did you install yours inline with the feed coming from the tranny or the one going back? Everything I've seen and heard make it look pretty simple, just tie it in to the one going directly into the line going to the radiator from the tranny (and not the return one). Did you have to add any fluid, i mean, alot of us auto owners are looking for ways to improve performance. Seems like something like this is perfect, as it will help a little and it's relatively inexpensive Thanks for responding by the way.

awesome!, thanks for doing that, I'll definitely be doing something like this down the road, probably going to go with a B&M as I've found several reasonably priced ones, with insane GVW/BTU ratings well. When I do mine I'll probably post up pics as well, just to help spread the info. etc.

Hey 09 Factor,

I have to ask that 06 model comes with dual transmission cooler besides the frog light, correct me if I m wrong.

But refer to your DIY section, you mount it on top of the radiator? Can you post some pics here please?

Another question is if I bought the 2nd cooler from Mazda will that work like a 06 AT?

Please help thanks.

The '06 At comes with 2 OIL coolers NOT At cooler. I wish it came with a better At fluid cooler!!

A # 1. The pic I show of the extra AT fluid cooler is at the bottom of the radiator in the air flow.

A # 2. paul at mazmart qouted me a price of $500 (USD) to purchase the right hand side oil cooler. To much for a used cooler I think. Yes it would be just like the '06 AT and the '04 and on MT.

My reccomendation would be to purchase an after market Oil cooler, mount it in the right side hole and mount an extra AT cooler in from of the radiator.

09Factor, can you please kindly show me the link of the after market oil cooler and the related components?

Thanks.

Don't forget the DIY, I recall you have that somewhere in here!

I must be missing the pressure riser information. Did you install it? How's it working? Have you noticed any difference with trany operation?

Nope your not missing it. I haven't even bought it yet.
I plan on later this summer on doing the Pressure riser. I want to get used to the turbo and how it shifts first.
