^ Hey Chet, for your knowledge, I am spending about 2 grands on a Brembo BBK 6-piston front 2 rear
do you think I'm retarded too?
Phil, Leon is just pissed, all good this thread didn't make sense in the first place

yes, cause you dont need it. you arent going 200+ mph, and you dont have a huge load to stop. its overkill. the brakes are already superb on the 8. just get some slotted rotors and spend the money elsewhere, LIKE NEW TIRES!!

^ dude, u tracked your car before no? I shouldn't have tell you this but
I NEED BETTER BRAKES!!!! from what I've been through, I need the best brakes freaking possible, seriously, and 2k is cheap insurance
I live in Socal, people do turn left on you when your 30 feet in front of them, if my brakes can go from 60-0 0.5 seconds faster, or stop the car at 20ft faster, it might save my car, possibly my life
and Chet, im not gonna go 200+mph, but I go 140+ all the time, I need new brakes, I'm dropping in a turbo real soon, so chances are I'm gonna need it a hell of alot more than Leon will, but still
if you are wonderin Chet, you'll need it too if u drive like me

my father said so many things about me, luckily, he doesn't know how I drive
1 is never enough, that being said, I am far a better driver than most people here in CA, at least I have been able to avoid near accidents alot lately, mostly by sheer skillzz . can't say the same about the dude who almost hit me, then ended up hitting some other dude

dont worry phil, i dont. while i have tracked my car, i know that you do NOT need those brakes. proper mainenance on the brakes will net very good results with them. unless im at the track, i barely go above 3K rpm, except for my once a day redline, which is always at 5 in the morning, and there is no one around. i dont drive like an idoit. look at MM, he has a turbo, but i dont think he has 6 piston calipers, nor does he need them. he knows how to control his car. something you need to learn how to do.

I'll snap his neck.
I do have to agree with chet that I think tires would be a more cost effective and important mod, if you don't have a really good set already. When you look at mags that document different performance mods they try, tires are almost always the best ones for handling AND braking. Check out the last few issues of Grassroots Motorsports. They had one article specifically on trying different tires on an 8. They also had an article where they took a stock subaru and did a bunch of different mods to it individually, posting their performance gains/losses with each one.
That said, if you already have really good tires and the money, go ahead and try the brakes and let us know if it is worth the cost. But before I went with a whole new brake kit, I'd try upgrading the pads first. Pads vary widely in stopping performance and fade resistance.

I feel sorry for you if you don't have to work for your modifications. If your parents just buy them for you...I feel very bad for you. You don't know the feeling of pride that comes over you after you finally have enough to buy it and you install it.
You just see the parts come in and then you have someone put them on and you don't need to pay a dime. You take your car for granted and abuse it (from what you've been saying).
I take pride in my car, as it is stock right now, I'm looking into buying myself an exhaust system for Christmas. Granted my girlfriend's Uggs don't cost me my leg. And I'm going to be proud of my achievement. Now one thing I notice...is people who respect and are proud of their car. And the people who take their car for granted.
And seriously, you don't need the Brembo Brakes. I think you want them just because you can brag about it to your high school friends. "Yeah dude I got Brembos". You do most of your time driving on the street...if you were pushing...350hp to the wheels and you track drove every weekend, by all means go for it. Just take your dad's 2,000 and invest it on the stock market. Maybe you'll begin making your own money and not rely on mommy and daddy

and once i finish school, i will be pursuing my career plans in China and Taiwan. So i see nothing wrong with parents aiding me, but yes i do understand you when you say mommy and daddy buying mods. I DO PAY FOR MY OWN MODS FROM THE MONEY I MAKE. mommy and daddy just do the rest, and whatever flame i will bring upon me. hey seriously we all come from different family lifestyles. and don't think i am just some spoiled brat, i may be spoiled, but i have a big future ahead of me.
