Just want to get some feedback. This is not a dwell time discussion.
I know Kane has them but he hasnt really been able to drive his car much-----yet.
I dont know of any other FI car with them other than MM?
I know Juan has the MSD version.
Anyone else done this?

So far, almost every FI car I've tuned in person has had them.
Looking through my customer database (15% of which is FI), more than half of the FI people list LS2 coils as a mod.

I can list user names, but I don't want to "out" anyone that doesn't want to be "outed".

As Jeff pointed out, there are others(that I know of as well), but let them chime in if they wish to do so.

I have both; the LS2 coils on the trailing plug, and the MSD/LS2s on the leads.

Update -
Leads are MSD Ignition 8247.
Trailings are standard LS2, not the Yukon's.
Spark plugs are set to 32.
No misfires....

The popular MSD coils emit 150 mA but at a slightly lower voltage (according to MSD, themselves).
The LM7/L59/LM4/L33 5.3 L engines are, essentially, iron-block versions of the LS-2. There are a bunch of other differences to make them truck applications.
At this point, I have yet to find a coil with a higher current output.

... and when do you expect to use those "D585-like" coils with no dwell change needed in your kits?

bingo Ray--thanks for picking up on that. There is a slight difference between the "yukons" and the "ls2" coils oem dwell tables.
Maybe a thread needs to be started under "Ignition set ups for FI"?
Open discussion for the thoughts on coil set ups/wires used and why, capacitors used or not? Maybe someone could actually scope a twin power!
Thoughts?

I have the BHR ignition but not a verified 320+ whp. I have hit 400g/s however and could probably pull more with a boost controller with gain functionality.

I could probably contribute to a good argument on why I think the stock coils are not so bad as everyone makes out and how to get the most from them ......

Like many things with the RX8, there's the easy way and the hard way.

Why some choose the hard way I don't know...but it's very entertaining.

indeed

I cant necessarily promise anything remotely intelligent from my side though(you may think that already :P ) since I kinda stay f*cked up on pain meds

I can say that I understand dielectric breakdown pretty well, and on any coil dont agree with those folks who are "re-gapping" their plugs to deal with or avoid ignition problems. And it isnt just because I see it as a band-aid... I have a feeling it can easily create another complication
