Considering this is the difinitive Turbocharger/Supercharger thread I figure this is a good place to post these links for those who are leaning more towards the superchargers. They give a decent little breakdown of the differences of the 3 main types of superchargers (of course that would exclude the Axial Flow which is it's own special thing)!

Twin Screw
http://www.superchargersonline.com/content.asp?ID=20

Centrifugal
http://www.superchargersonline.com/content.asp?ID=21

Roots
http://www.superchargersonline.com/content.asp?ID=22

The only reason I found this stuff is because a friend spoke of 2 guys he knows that have Integras with superchargers on them along with boost controllers. I became curious as to what type of supercharger would potentially have a boost controller because I've never really heard of it! I think I got a general idea now!

great info hornet

Twin screw stacks up well & looks like the best for the 8 . The idea of double the torque at low rpm has a lot of appeal - will make the tyre companies happy too

I want to be able to peel the tyres

(Without having to dip the clutch and sidestep it bouncing of the limiter )

Wildcards car put on around 50HP at the tyres at about 2500 RPM.

Cheers,
Hymee.

just to let some of u people that are unaware of how a SC works, its boost is based off of engine rpm, unlike a turbo whos boost is off of vacuum n exhaust gas pressure...... those of u illiterate enough to believe that SC's have instant boost r mistaken unless u plan on launchin about 6-7k rpms......n honestly there r some t4's that can get us to the 400hp range......unfortunately we have stock components which will fail around the 300 hp mark(ignition system, fuel pump, fuel injectors), so if u want 400hp shell out an additional 1k-2k for the coils plugs n wires, injectors and pump, bigger return line then theres ur 400.........but until there r buyers out there with products of companies that work, n last, in my opinion companies shouldnt be bashin the competition, it makes u look illiterate.

i really wanted to pose this question on a forum i knew to be very active. i was wondering if anyone here had done a turbo install out of a pro shop i dare call it a garage job. i would imagine you would be quite a genius to do so and pull it off successfully. i am not counting dyno and tuning in this process. the reason i ask is because there are some kits you can do that with and i am under the impression we will never be able to do that with. what have we found to be true so far in the land of the 13b?
also if so what numbers did you see from non tuned dyno run when you went to get it tuned?
i am looking to go FI but not for a little while untill i can get a better kit than greddy. but i have a friend who has a shop and wants to install a turbo with me. so lets get the impression i am going to try to do what i am asking.
i grad. high school. im not that stupid (i couldnt do it, maybe someone else can)

I beg your pardon, but the S/C project I have been working on makes FULL BOOST THE INSTANT YOU OPEN THE THROTTLE. I have shown the video where approx 13 PSI is available from about 2500 RPM.

BTW - A turbo's "boost" making doesn't have anything to do with "vacuum". Only exhaust back pressure as you said.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Actually Stealth it makes him look like a complete asshat. There are alot of people in here with a wealth of knowledge that are gracious enough to help those who aren't as well versed in the ways of FI, and it really pisses me off when douchebags like this guy come in and attempt to insult them.
-end rant-

Bump for 2006 6speed auto requiring enough HP to beat my dads new Mustang Shelby Gt500.

Joking, but has anyone put a turbo on the 6speed auto? (stupid maybe, but I like to flip a swtich and stop having the need to shift, so i can... say drink my Sonic Route44 Coke and Lime/cherry.

well ur supercharger might be different Hymee im just statin in generality a superchargers design is the amount of airflow runnin through is directly in proportion to engine rpm...... n yes a turbo boost does run off of exhaust gasses.........however it is in vacuum until it gets enough exhaust gas to spin the turbine which will directly spin the compressor n there u go boost......im not tryin to start an arguement.......n hey if u made a supercharger make 13 psi at 2500 rpms congratulations on a job well done.........like was said before thats the generic definition of how a supercharger works.......so my bad if i came off like an *******....
