Just wondered if everyone realised that all the traditional spots for getting oil to feed a turbo were using unfiltered oil .

Questions :

Is this part of the reason for early bearing failure on Greddy plain bearing turbos ?

Anyone doing anything about this - external in line filter ?

Prices vary, I guess it would depend on the ease of changing the filter and filter availability.

it cant hurt, and is certainly something to ponder. but putting Greddy bearing failures on it is a stretch i think. Perhaps it was a factor sure, i think the primary causes were abuse, design, and lack of proper maintenance in the first place.

Agreed . Still , I think it is worth mentioning and good practice to filter the oil before it gets to that turbo spinning at 100,000 rpm .
