i really hope your not serious about that turbo kit. if you are. you way as well just through a bunch of nuts and bolts in your engine and burn 700 dollars. that thing is a piece of ****. and you do know the auto is less powerful than the manual. find yourself a manual. you'll be glad you did. turbo kits run about 4-6 grand for this car. not 6 hundred ebay piece of crap scams.

I say no! Thats not a complete kit, you still need a manifold, and a piggy back for the ecu. And you usually get what you pay for, I've nev3er seen the turbo, but I'd put my car on the line and say its not worth it.

If you do a little research on this club, you'll find a few other posts about "these kits", and lots of info on actual kits and custom jobs.

Funny how you managed to post this in the right part of the forum but clearly haven't read all the stickies on turbo kits for the 8.

Read up on the available turbo kits for the 8. I suspect that Ebay kit is not the proper size turbo for our car.

1. I wouldn't settle for an auto if that's not what you want. There are plenty of MTs on the market to be had. You certainly should not be trapped buying from one dealer. But, if you don't care and are fine with buying an auto (there is nothing inherently wrong with an auto. My DD is an auto and I like driving it in traffic more) then...
2. Don't buy that kit. It's "universal" which means it's not made for any car at all. You are buying: a POS turbo, some aluminum pipes (which I bet you could deform with your hands) or crush with the T-bolt clamps. Actually, I'm amazed that kit has t-bolts which are decent clamps if made correctly. Put it this way - if you bought parts for a turbo kit and had a $650 budget, how much are you spending on each individual part? That turbo is going to be from the lowest price retailer regardless of quality. You would buy that kit, spend $5k at a shop getting it made into a real kit for the car, have a poor running turbo 8 and then spend X each year replacing parts as they break.

You are buying a car that loves huge amounts of air and gas. A chinsy cookie-cutter kit made with any import 4-banger in mind is probably not going to foot the bill.

Don't buy cheap upgrades for this car.

Don't buy this car with autotragic transmission.

If you can't drive stick.. LEARN!

I learned just to drive this car..

A salesman at the stealership taught me on THIS car, it's very easy to learn on an 8.

I take it back. Go ahead and buy that kit and let us know how it works out. It may end up saving most of us a boat ton of cash!

Lol i was waiting for him to say april fools. Oh **** , i think he was serious hahahaha. I dont think anyone has to "tell" you that its not going to work. Just you being here asking about if it will work means subconsciously you know it might be a piece of crap. And yeah if you're aiming for performance (seems like you are) then get a manual trans , 4 port < 6 port. Yeah and its a V6 :P.

no it was not an April fools joke obviously but i figured it was a P.O.S. but i was curious becuase i know " you get what you pay for" and ive seen turbos for this car go for around 3000 that's y since its a community of people all with the same car i figured one of you guys had to have bought this 700 dollar thing and i wanted to know how it may or may not have worked out for that one person and yea the manual versions in my area are not in my price range regardless i don't mind driving automatic anyway i dont like it as much as manual but w.e i can deal untill im older and have enough money considering i am only 18

and since everyone loves this post .. i figure i might as well ask a question wile u all are gawking at it like its a girl with a fatt ***... does a cold air intake make the car run better since the 5w-20 grade oil makes the car run "extremely hot" or is the cold air intake not enough to scratch the surface of the heat... and is 5w-30 illigal in the US or its just not sold here? meaning can i order it online from europe or Canada?

im sorry but do you seriously think 5w-30 is illegal? my acura takes 5w-30. and really man, just go read. a cai does basically nothing. and the car does run hot compared to other cars, but nothing the car isn't designed to take. and seriously man, a manual shouldnt be any more expensive.

if you do get the 8 you need to read alot. or you'll end up flooding your engine and having it only last 10,000 miles before it blows.

well i was not talking about you i know you were being nice and thanks

and i read somewhere in this forum and on another forum by people talking about problems with the rx8 in the US is the fact that your not aloud to use 5w-30 becuase it was illigal here... so that's y i asked and ive been doing my research but i cant find anything thats straight to the point with pointers and instructions its all winded info about this and that ... techical terms and im trying to go on youtube and watch videos breaking down the rotary engine parts names functions and ive found a few but i dont know much about what goes on under the hood of any car .... so trying to have me read those long winded explinations are rediculas and counter productive ... i know that be4 shutting the car off u should rev the rpm's somwhere between 4k -7k and then shut it off inorder to prevent the engine from flooding as well as take it on long highway drives once a year, also i know that you should "drive it like you stole it" but how would i do that on an automatic basically jsut floor it everywhere? lol

and yea in my area the maunal's arent "more expensive" but its just the fact that by chance all the manuals in the area have little to no miles on them and are selling for a lot more then i can gather togather right now... i mean after a wile im sure ill switch to a manual version ina few years ill prob keep with the rx8 if i find that i reallly like it but at this point an automatic is more pratical for me anyway ... if you could give me a link to a forum whre it explains what to do or if one of you guys can just explain ... or redirect me with a link within this forum or somthing that would be awesome thanks

You think 5W-30 is illegal, like Cocaine?

Step away from the car. Any car. Quickly.

I say this to be nice, but you have no business modifying a car right now. If you can't afford a manual trans then how can you afford parts? It will get costly when you surely grenade your engine.
