Throttle Body Spacer
Was hoping somebody could give me a little guidance on a product I saw on e-bay. Product was listed as a "Throttle Body Spacer" and the vendor claimed up to a 25hp and 4mpg increase in performance. Looks like it works along the same theory as a product I saw advertised as a "Tornado", i.e. it vortexs the air as it goes into the motor. Anybody know whether these claims are true or not and whether the product is worth it? With gas prices being the way that they are, it could quickly pay for itself if it is true. Attached is the link to the e-bay listing.

Any info would be appreciated.

Keep in mind that the claims usually say something like "up to xx increase". "Up to" is the key here, that means you won't get MORE than the advertised gain, but if you get less, they didn't lie.
The vortex thingies (Turbonator, etc) the throttle body spacer, fuel line magnets, fuel atomizers (or ionizers) and magic snake oil are about as effective as go-fast decals.
There may be some science behind some of the gadgets on the market, but if they have any effect at all, it would be on older, and often carburated, engines.
Popular Science or Popular Mechanics did an excellant article (this one or very recent) where they installed these gadgets and dynoed the vehicles. They explained the ad, why it might have any basis in reality, and the reality.
