is there anywhere in alabama that can install a pettit s/c or mazsport turbo kit?
I live in Alabama and im wanting to get either the mazsport turbo kit or the pettit s/c but they both are located 10 hours away in florida. Does anybody know a place in Alabama or georga or anywhere closer than 10 hours away that can install them? please help... and yes i did search
ok thanks.. so he would come down here and do the install for me? how hard is the greddy kit to install? im sure i could do it im just not good with the computer part? the greddy kit says it comes with a emanage. does it just plug up and flash the cpu and then im ready to go or what? fill me in on what i need as far as setting the cpu up after the install
I would highly suggest doing some more research before turbo/supercharging your 8.
Not to be harsh, but FI is something you shouldn't take lightly. You can very easily blow your motor.
The GReddy includes the E-Manage Ultimate, it's a piggyback computer that is basically a glorified liar box to the factory PCM. It does not work like the AccessPORT or flash your computer. It requires tuning, and lots of it, by a tuner that knows rotaries and what they are doing. The AP is a much better route for power and reliability.

yes fi on this car is not a plug and play--not being harsh either man, but really --tis a fickle little beast and if you dont have comprehensive knowledge/support it could be frustrating for ya. you can do it but it is work.

Call Pettit and Mazsport to see if they recommend anyone in your area. If they say no then consider shipping your car to them or scheduling time with Charles for the install.
FI isn't fickle. You just need a solid tune, the results are repeatable and performance will be solid without deviation.
If your hardware is crap, then your results will not be consistent. Same goes for the tune.
The only catch with FI is that you have to be mindful for hardware failures. Oil leaks, coolant leaks, vacuum hoses cracking, things getting loose. Any of which can result with much more serious results than if you were NA.

Tune is the key. Everything else is simple maintenance. If you choose to go FI you should already be prepared to want to check everything. The Greddy kit is easy to install. The pain is getting the manifold and the turbo on. Once that is done its simple as connecting pipes. Get rid of the emanage and get the Cobb AP from mazdamaniac. For a beginner is the best option.
thanks.. i stayed up all night researching and i fully undersand the access port now and that is my def. choice. and i think im going with the esmirell kit.. and i familier with FI but i didnt know about the rotary.. this is my first rotary.. so i know i could install the kit but my question was about the ecu of the 8. Im not used to all this computer **** now days.. but after reading all of Mazda maniacs post he has really made me understand the ups and downs on tuning the FI rotary
but theyre still here lol
which can be scaryat times
and yes i can help you with the install as well after we do that local meet thing we were talking about before
if this is your 1st rotory(it was mine also) remember you are adding fi to a engine with a 270 degree flame front (watch the cooling) and a 10/1 compression ratio. i would highly recommend a water meth kit with the install for many reasons.
once sorted out the fi rotory can be a very dependable engine. do your due diligence.
it is a fickle beast as the engine become more complex and i guarantee you will not just add a fi system and leave it alone
.
you will need to upgrade cooling unless you live in a cool climate.
