let me get this straight, i just read this whole thread and we are getting rwh #s from a dyno in az that is from the uk?????? why no pulls from 1k to 9.5k????

btw, how can you sell a turbo kit without any engine management???? my guess is that 98% of your market doesnt have a cz, emanage or ric shaw unit.

the more i read this thread the more i wait to upgrade.

beers

I'm not trying to flame anyone's personal preferences here, but ever since this car came out, I have been amazed at the number of Autos out there. I have to wonder why anybody would choose to buy a performance car like this in auto? THe manual shifting is part of what makes the driving experience. (IMHO)

Dave, you do know that the 4 port Renesis is really nothing more than a 6 port without the auxillaries cut in don't you? The secondaries are just as small as the 6 port secondaries and so are the runners. This is very different than the large secondaries on the 4 port engines of the past.

...My guess is:

"Nobody cares what an RX8 makes, powerwise, below about 3000 rpms"

I don't.

Latest update from SFR. Keith said with new injectors and brought the timing back slightly the car made 290 at the wheels at around 8,000rpm's..

keith said tha's without the straight pipe and water injector kit that they wanted to do, but their customer wants the car back... I'am sure to injoy....

Keith also said they have another customer that they will be installing this kit with the straight pipe and water injection and should pull 335-350 at the wheels safely at 12psi boost. my kits coming shortly... Keith said they will post asap with videos, Keith said he knows we are all waiting, but it's been hard with the work thay have ...

I hope not, that's the kit I'am buying with the straight pipe and water injection, Keith did say it would be safe because we're cooling down the unit and that will run on pump gas also.

Using WI to raise boost is a bad idea, in my opinion. But hey, it's not my car.

That's true it's not your car, I have seen it done in corvette's mine included and works well, I'am not saying you don't have to be careful, you do, but putting in a Turbo or Supercharger you have to watch what the hell your doing also, but the benefits are there..

this seems crazy - all this power, yet no/little mention of the strength of our apex seals...

Actually, the seals are supposedly safe to handle 13psi boost with no problem, that's not to sayI will be pushing them that hard, but I might

I'll have to research that for my own good - I wonder where the magic number 13 came from?

Hurm...

It's OK, you can't make a lot of pressure when you put the fire out with water. The pressure comes from expansion which comes from the burn and heat. Why bother to make it and spend the energy? Why not design a usable system to start with that doesn't need band-aids??

The best systems don't go into abnormal combustion, only to need to get reversed.

I'm not disagreeing with the benefits of WI, I used it on my Volvo to keep the 15psi charge cooler in the hot and humid Florida summers (ie used it to increase the margin to detonation near the normal running boost(with chip)). But using it to raise max safe boost seems like compensation for poor design to me. You want 12psi, design the intercooler for it. Just my philosophy. But hey, as long as it's got water and the jets work, it'll do the job i guess.
