Ah - that explains it .

Although it does suggest that moving the IAT sensor may not actually help you get anymore headroom . If IAT is used to calculate reported calc. load that goes against you , but the reverse when max. calc. load is calculated . So one will offset the other.

I am pretty excited with the progress we have made. I am bummed that the weather has turned here. Was in the 30's this morning. The car will be on jack stands before the end of the month for the winter while I execute my growing list of things to address, so no more tuning for a while, but should be able to post about other stuff between now and spring...

Thank you FazdaRX_8 and Brettus, you have both been a great help! For sure not the end of the road tho

This thread has helped me join the dots on the subject of calculated load . I decided to start a new thread explaining it over here ..... https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-engine-tuning-forum-63/maximum-calculated-load-what-does-how-override-248857/

That is great stuff, looking very promising! Now to get the car ready to crank up more boost and test going over 200% load next spring! Big modifications will be to recirculate the currently VTA wastegate and then deal with cooling issues. That big intercooler isn't helping. Over the summer I would see 210+ coolant temps going up hills with ambient temps around 100. I am still trying to decide on the best option. Lay it flat or vent the hood and get creative with some ducting... Any advice is welcome

I also need to redo some heat shielding and hoses. The OMP fared well. I was a little concerned about it at first. It stopped consuming oil for a bit, but that turned out to be because I had vented the OMP breather instead of plumbing it back into the intake pre-compressor. It's been consuming oil like normal ever since plumbing it back in, which also got rid of a pesky lean area I was seeing right on cusp of OL/CL. Yeah, I figured out that the OMP breather line needs metered air!

I was actually hoping for advice on the cooling issue but open to all advice.

I don't disagree with you. But as far as motor mods go my plan at this point is to acquire a second motor to build up while I continue to push this current motor as far as it will go. There will be some lessons learned, I am sure!

!
I figured as much but couldn't resist .
For cooling these things definitely work well :
1/ An extra radiator ..... which is what I have.
2/ relocating the A/C condenser (Rotorman did a good DIY on this).

Ya, I was wondering how close I would get. I didn't do any WOT logging thru the RPM range, just some short bursts in 2'nd gear. Hit 233% load in one log and 221% in another. Fueling and timing was as expected for my tune. I think the 221% load would have gone higher, but the wheels broke loose. I loaded it up in VD just because it is easy to look at it as a graph (yeah, I know I could do it in excel) and you can see how the engine RPM took off

The highest MAF voltage I hit was 4.79. But I could definitely see hitting 5V or more if I let it sweep through the range and build boost. I was too focused on calc load and afr to look at the boost gauge, so not sure what it peaked at. But it was definitely a huge difference

The highest I ever hit at 6000rpm was 320g/s and i remember that being insanely quick . You are hitting 350 !!!!!!

And this tune has the stock MAF scale with stock intake diameter, so this ain't no inflation... Heh... Ya it kinda scared me. I'm not so sure I will log a full WOT run yet...

Heh, besides all the other stuff I need to sort out, the weather up here is getting colder. We had hail this afternoon that stuck to the ground like snow... I am probably toying with danger as it is. But seriously thinking about it for next year...

Nice!!

You know I have a log where my Maf reading went to 6v at 550gs I think the Maf can go higher then 5 volts.

It was a instance where my Maf got wet on a really wet day.
