if that much oil was getting in there you may want to check the ssv and the apv's? They have been known to deposit up.

My SSV was locked in the open position by the tuner. I could spray some contact cleaner in the vaccum pipe and it should clean out some of the oil residue?
I inspected the used cold and OEM spark plugs and it appears that there was a lot more carbon build up on the colder plugs. I will run OEM plugs for normal driving and colder plugs for the track.

no problems with cranking, cold warm up, idle--- nothing. And what was really interesting was my a/f's didnt change. My fuel trims did change a little but not much.

I accidently discharged my battery, should have it back tomorrow so I can start running my car again. I am contemplating going to the track on Saturday however, I am concerned that it has not been tuned yet since resolving the boost leaks and new intake. It seems to run smoothly to the redline at the moment with lost of power however, at the track it is another story as I will always be in the 6000 to 9000 rpm range which cannot be replicated on teh road. Even on slow corners I blip the throttle to ensure I am in the powerband as soon as I need to accelerate.

I am leary of e shaft flex and the increased tension on the front bearings etc that the blower causes? I redline mine now at 8k and I shift a lot at 7.5K. The rx8 e shaft is not tempered like the turbo rx7 ones are.
Ours is probably ok at the torque levels we are getting but that extra 1K rpm throws a bunch more demand on it.

On my first track day after installing the supercharger I was bouncing off the rev limiter on certain occassions. Due to the lighter fly wheel the car revs up very quickly. So far I have not had any issues however my 03 car is getting old now on its original motor so I should start to ease off. I may have done some damage to the internals trying to rev the guts out while I was having boost issues.

went to the mechanic today to get a water decarb done as I was concerned about all the oil that was going through my engine due to the lack of catch can.
They pumped 5L of water while running the engine without the cat....loud as!!
The new plugs have also made a significant differance to performance and fuel consumption. On the way home I noticed that boost at full throttle in 3rd gear was now around 12psi. I guess fixing teh boost leak has made a differance before that it used to be around 9psi and sometimes at 10 but never past.
Tuners are busy and now looking to relocate so I may need to wait before I can get it re-tuned

I also changed the exhaust from the full 3" to a twin 2"after the cat to the cat back with a small muffler on each pipe.The 3"pipe noise got very loud after fixing all the boost leaks.
Naturally, the twin does not flow as well as the 3" so the possible theory of the jump in boost is the increased back preassure.
Hope to get to the tuners next Thursday and I also hope the standard injectors are sufficent to run over around 300hp

Ok finally booked with the tuners next Thursday, get to pick it up on Friday. Unfortunately. no time to get the injectors upgraded. I may even get them to try both exhausts to see if there is a significant loss with the twin 2"set up.
I can then switch to the 3" exhausts for track use if I am loosing significant power.

yea--back pressure would mean you are loosing airflow and the super charger may have to be working harder to keep its positive displacement airflow going. The air has to go somewhere!
If you are on oem injectors at 300 rwhp--you are probably close to 100% duty cycle. Be careful man.

Thanks OD, It is a full days work to get the injectors changed and the mechanic is busy at teh moment. The tuners are moving shop soon so if I miss my Thursday booking then it could be weeks before they are ready to do a tune on my car. So I will get the tune done based on the current set up and look at injector upgrade if necessary.
I have headers and a 100 cell figh flow cat however after the cat I have twin 2"pipes where it joins into a 3'pipe at the catback. It will be interesting to see any power differance between the my current pipe and the full 3"set up.

Car at the tuners. Now has a stuck bypass valve so they have to wait for it to cool down before they can fix the problem and try again. Hopefully, I get my car back today.
Picked up the car from the tuners this afternoon. Unfortunately, I have hit another snag and this time it is the bypass valve. It was a known issue and somehow, I managed to get by without major issues. However, on the dyno it started playing up. The valve is like a piston controlled by a spring. It seems to get caught and then gets jammed. Danny, had the same problem and mine was modified however, now it is playing up and boost is erratic.
It appears that this part may need to be redesigned and one of the solutions is to use a butterfly valve.
On the bright side the car managed to get to 200kw at the rear wheels on the smaller exhaust and 8 PSI with the problamatic bypass valve. So I would expect more power once this problem has been resolved.

In saying that , I remember tofu had major issues with his (due to proximity to maf) as well which we got sorted eventually.
The plunger was jammed. Gave it a good clean and sanded it with a wet sandpaper. The oil blow by was assisting with the lubrication. It seens to be working fine now however, the boost is now around 8psi.
Could, the new conservative tune somehow lowered the boost.
