Power went back up to 188rw after the exhaust change however still below the 200kw peak. The compression test showed even numbers on all rotor faces so perhaps it could be a result of worn housing due to excessive oil blowby.

I will be getting a itemised quote on the cost of the rebuild which will include new housings, rotors, eshaft some porting, etc.

I will most likely get Automotive Plus to rebuild and just send the parts that need special treatment to Xtreme rotaries for the special treatment.

Automotive Plus has a specialist engine builder with lots of RX8 rebuild experience.

For now the car is running fine so hopefully I have a bit of time.

Exhaust noise was getting unbearable on long highway trips. The problem is that the stock shielding is designed for the stock exhaust and my modified exhaust has resonators in new locations. This causes sound to penetrate the cabin quite easily.

Added some sound deadening material to some of the bare metal around the the transmission tunnel. This has made a big differance in the noise entering the cabin. I am surprised to see so much bare metal through the transmission tunnel.

I will add a bit more now that i know it works and hopefully it will also reduce the heat around the cup holder.

Started new job and now I am driving over 120km per day. This a big change from only travelling less than 100km per week.

The light performance clutch is a pain in stop start peak hour traffic however I am getting used used to it.

I tried setting the electronic throttle to economy mode and it has made the car a lot better to drive in peak hour traffic. The throttle response is almost similar to stock now which is great for the kind of driving I am doing at the moment.

understand throttle response. Boring the TB and tying open the ssv makes the throttle much more sensitive to input. It does make in a little harder to drive in town.
Have you opened up the exhaust chokepoint between the midpipe and the catback?

My resonator between the mid pipe and cat back on the 3"pipe was blocked. So I have gone back to my twin 2"pipes and the power went back up. So all is going well on my car despite the low compression.

I checked my spark plug yesterday and it was a nice brown colour as opposed to the usual black. So reluctant to change anything on my car at the moment.

I have also adopted a regular regieme of premixing 150 ml to eaxh tank full over the last 2 months.

thats only 5 oz's per tank?
I dont think there is a standard amount of pre mix that has been proven to work better though.

For any measurable results you have to go to 1 oz per gallon. 2 oz's/gal is better when you are tracking.

New problem!!

Car ran beautifully for close to 900km. the fuel consumption figures improved at every fill. However towards the end of the first leg of the journey the car sputterted to a stop.

I checked the fuses and everything was fine. After 15 minutes it started again however did teh same after 20 minutes of driving. This happened twice more and I suspected fuel pump issue. I pulled teh seat out and the fuel pump cover was hot to touch.

I think as the long term fuel trims beacme leaner the exhaust temps went up and my resonator next to the fuel tank heated up the fuel.

i assume that there must be a built in mechanism that cuts off the fuel pump at a certain temp.

I did install come dound deadening around that area which may have also helped conduct the heat.

get the s2 pump in there.
But no there is not a self regulated temp sensor in the gas tank.

I did hear the pump for the first time when the fuel was hot. I normally do not hear the pump at all.

fuel pump problems--if that is what it is--are intermediate. At least mine and a few others that I know were.
The fuel pump lid can get warm just like the transmission tunnel I guess? Still the gas in the tank will hardy be affected. The tanks have a pretty good shield around them.
Anyway you can check your fuel pressures?

Unfortunately the fuel pressure gague was on the to do list.

It appears that I may have to look into the voltage regulator to modulate the pump overuse during fuel transfer

I agree--I just discovered aeromotives recommendations too. That should fix it.

I still say the S2 assembly is the best way to go at our power level.

Changed sparkplugs back to stock. I had the colder plugs running from the last track day and did not get around to taking them off.

The plugs looked ok front rotor had a brown tinge while the rear has whiteish and the lead plug wire had a green tinge to it. Apparently this is caused by overheating which could have happened at the track.

I think the current tune is spot on as proir tunes where very rich and my plugs had soot all over them.

Found oil leak from the back of the supercharger again. I thought that the last fix was permanent however, the pesky leak is back so I have to go back to Automotive plus on Thursday for a check up to identify the source.

I was perfect for a while I hope it is an easy fix. It is not too severe just annoying.
