the rx8's balance after a turbo...
ive been talking to a few people reguarding the overal balanced nature of the rx8 and how a turbo affects this.
most pople who ive spoken to have told me that the car seems like it handles worse once the greddy kit is put on. does anyone have any input on this. on a side note, i think that all the people that ive spoken to have aftermarket suspention.

Its been a while since I didn't have the kit on, but I didn't perceive any difference whatsoever in handling. Maybe its harder to control because you're going so much faster!

i did a test drive last night in the rain, bad idea! it got squirrely even in 3rd...
i thought i was going to wreck in 2nd
the way it runs at the moment it feels off but i'm venting to atmosphere so it's not smooth at all, this thing needs to be tuned... soon enough.

The stock car is well balanced. It's smooth all around. It's difficult to get out of control with it.
With a turbo you get a lot more raw power, and you can no longer just floor the gas pedal without thinking. The car handles the same though...

i cant imagine that the overall weight of the turbo kit is over 150 pounds max... with that in mind that is like 8 percent of the overall weight of the car.... the effect of balance itself should only be altered minimally... the power in a fi car is where the diffference is... like the previous people said the car has a different pedal feel

but with adding the turbo stuff, you get rid of the stock manifold, so it's not all THAT much extra weight.

yeah i was overestimating to be honest.... i knwo iwas talking to scott and he mentioned htat the type 2 kit weighed probably about 75 pounds.... so that is 2.5 percent of the overall weight of the car... dave how is everything going over there it was a pleasure meeting you out in seven stock

One reason why the RX-8 feels so well balanced is because it can out handle it's power level. That keeps it easy to control. When you boost the power, of course you'll have a harder time with it. At least in some respects. In other ways it would probably be easier to control.
It's hard to compare aftermarket suspensions as there are so many different setups and many of them just stiffen the car up without actually knowing how it affects handling. Sometimes you'll get an aftermarket setup that makes it worse.

very true rg...
if you go with a higher end coilover or suspension you can actually corner balance the car to apply equal weight to all four corners (relatively close) then you will have the weight issue handled...
