I believe Bret uses the pressure source from before the throttle body. The way I see it, it wouldn't make a difference from a drivability and tuning standpoint. Running a boost controller in general will cause excess pressure at the turbo under partial throttle. I prefer, as well as most companies say, to have the pressure source from the turbo outlet because that is where pressure is the highest. For a boost warning/drop feature, the quicker response time may save a motor. You also want those lines as short as possible.

The Boost Controller solenoid - get the boost source for this from just after the turbo as you planned to all along.
The Controller itself - most people connect this to the UIM . I have found it beneficial to connect it pre throttle body although this goes against conventional wisdom .
Two benefits i have seen from doing it this way :
1/At partial throttle there can be an excessive build up of boost pre throttle body , this makes throttle control imprecise at best and down right dangerous at worst (at elevated settings) .
I believe the type of BOV you use influences this considerably however - some types fix the issue for you some don't.
2/As the BC has a pressure readout you effectively get and additional boost gauge measuring pre throttle boost .
There are no drawbacks to doing this apart from the fact that if you have an 'overboost' warning on your BC , it will go off a lot at part throttle.

If you have a boost controller you do fix#2 using it. Instead of the line from turbo outlet to wastegate actuator, you do

the boost controller is suppose to be set up that way. It is the pressure source for the bc to control the wastegate with.

ahh. I did make a mistake. Bret has the BOOST SIGNAL before the throttle body. There's nothing wrong with doing it that way. Actually, for the profec it may work better that way as Bret mentions. As long as you have a separate gauge to view at the UIM.
9K, I currently get my boost signal from the UIM. My boost controller (HKS EVC6) functions as a gauge, so I have it hooked up to see what is going into the engine. The throttle body will act as a restriction at times other than WOT, so it didn't make sense for me to have my b/c reading before it.
and yes, the Greddy profec valve unit, which has 3 ports (pressure source, wastegate, and boost signal)

Yeah thats the way I plan on setting mine up. Solenoid signal from turbo outlet then to wastegate actuator. Boost signal from Pre-TB (Tee'd into my Jet Air hose) for the Boost controller boost signal and my actual in dash boost gauge is connected to VFAD nipple so I know what the engine is seeing. With the GREddy PRofec EBC once I order it.
Curious as to where everyone is mounting their EBC's?? I've seen one mounted into the black piano peice below the volume **** on the radio but looking for some more simple ideas...

dropped off the mani and down pipe on Friday. 155 plus tax was the final number. AMAZING.
however, he did say that he didnt think it would be a good idea to coat the inside of the manifold as they cant assure that the coat will adhere properly which could result in a flake going through the turbo. So they are only coating the outside of that. They are coating both the inside and outside of the downpipe though.
This made me happy

Do you still have use of your ash tray.... coin tray for parking in my case.... also do you have a link for more pics and how you did that or is it on your build thread?
Coating the inside? Never heard of that but that should be sweet, I think I'm gonna get mine done when I eventually upgrade.
