What does recirculating your BOV have to do with spark plugs?? Go with RX7 trailing plugs. NGK 5255s, they are one step colder. Put those in your leading ports and dont touch your trailing.

Nothing does, but Ive never changed them before. What is the difference between leading and trailing? Why shouldn't I get new ones for the trailing plugs?

The leading plug, (the one on the bottom of the housing marked with a L) is the spark plug that does a majority of the work during combustion. The trailing plug, (marked with a T on the top of the housing) is used to "clean up" whats left to burn in the combustion chamber. The plugs that are stock in out engine are 2 different temps ranges. Do a search for the stock plug numbers and it will be something like BUR8**** and BUR9****. The 8 and 9 are heat range of the plug. You need a 9 heat range in all the plug ports. Since the trailing are already BUR9*** you dont need to replace them unless you have a high mileage car or just want too. But get exact stock replacements for the the trailing and get the 5255s for your leading.

You're tuning a turbochargerd RX-8 and you don't know the difference between leading and trailing??

Have you had the emanage tuned or did you do it yourself? Or are you running the base maps???

Base maps I guess. I was told the emanage was locked and there was nothing you could do to it unless you erase it completely. The guy at greddy told me I could just plug it in and go.

Everywhere ive read on this forum said that i should be fine with the emanage if i leave everything on the kit stock. Ive ran the car for about 1000 miles now and it runs fine... no pinging or anything only running rich, which I think is from not recirculating the BOV. And running rich isnt exactly a bad thing anyway. If i was going to "tune" the emanage would i have to clear it and upload someone else's map onto it?

Do the greddy fixes for the kit; leave the boost stock and recirc your BOV... and you should be fairly safe.... but seriously man - no guarantees.

Yes. Go to MMs website, he has plenty of eManage maps on there that you can choose from that will make your car run better. I think the only is you will have to buy his harness for the unit. Not sure how much it is.

^Yeah you have to mod the harness to work with MM's setup.

Running the base maps on EManage is a VERY bad idea. A lot of people have blown motors running the preloaded base maps....

Have you done the GReddy fixes? At least Fix #2?

Yes i did the fix #2. I cant seem to find anything on his site that talks about an emanage map. The only thing I can find is info about the access port. Are you talking about the custom maps that i have to pay $300 for?

thanks

OK, thanks. couple questions

1. Where can I get a plug for the emanage to my computer?
2. Are there instructions on how to load/erase maps on the emanage?
3. What if for some reason, it ran worse, is there a way to save the map it comes stock with?
4. I dont have an AFR gauge so how will i know if it is running better?

thanks

1. I don't know, never had the emanage, accessport is what I have
2. same as above
3. same as above
4. buy a wideband afr gauge immediately! Never EVER run boosted without one. You are playing with fire!

Before you do anything with MM Maps on the Emanage you need to modify your harness or it WON'T WORK.

Secondly, get a wideband AFR gauge Immediately!!! You are risking a blown engine without it. How do you know you're running rich if you don't have a wideband?

try these:

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-major-horsepower-upgrades-93/e-manage-ultimate-success-93286/

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=53406

But you should really do yourself a favor, rip the EMU out, and shell out the $700 for a COBB AccessPORT

How about I take it to a local tuner shop and have them tune it for me?
