Exclamation Ready to upgrade FI Need recommended set-up

Hello Everyone,

Happy New Year. I am ready for upgrading to Force Induced Turbo kit/supercharger kit now. I have read a fair portion of major upgrade forum in this section. There are some mixed opinions on the set-up. I would like to know what exactly turbo/supercharger brand work well along with exact brand gauges, blow-off valve, WBOS,...etc in the current market. I have been thinking Pettit racing supercharger special, but it was over now. I probably go for GReddy kit along with GReddy Emanage Ultimate, GReddy oil pan, GReddy oil catch 15mm, Greddy boost, oil temp & pressure gauges in white. Please advice. Anything else? What should I get instead? Thanks in advance.

first of all, you may have enough cash to buy the kit and all those extras, but do you have enough for tuning, and unexpected things like maybe a new engine?

I recommend the Mazsport Turbo kit. It is a full complete kit with everything you'll need.

Are you going to install it yourself or have a shop install it for you?

$7k is not enough.

I would get the mazdamaniac.com full GReddy upgrade kit for $5500 and then buy a mazsport interceptor-x ems, mazsport ignition solution, injectors and fuel pump.

Then you need a boost controller, boost gauge, AFR gauge.

Why are you selling your SFR kit? I don't see too many people talking about that kit.

Esmeril turbo kit looks good. But it costs est. $6,500 plus shipping with E-manage Ultimate kit. I wonder how easy it takes to install myself over the weekend. I do not see any instruction link on its site. Does anyone has experience on this kit yet? How does it compare with GReddy turbo kit plus GReddy RS BOV, catch tank setup? It costs three grand less than Esmeril kit. Any thought?

Greddy kit sucks. Just search this site and you can see just how bad of a setup $3000 will get you.

The Greddy kit needs a lot of "fixes". If you were to buy the Greddy, and do all of the fixes and little upgrades.. I think you would be somewhere in the 5000-6000 dollar range. Don't quote me on this though. I'm just going on what I think Mysql101 said.

Thanks staticlag. I did read some articles on this forum. But I also know if I keep GReddy kit as it is. It should work fine according to MM. How do you justify the extra $$$ on Esmeril kit? Thanks again.

For $5600 you can get the MazdaManiac version of the GReddy kit.

We have yet to get dyno numbers but something tells me it will be the best performance bang for the buck by far.

Most people will spend around 5k-6k total on the greddy kit. That's 3k for the kit, then 2-3k for gauges, install, tuning, oil pans, etc.

That's not to say that a 6-7k kit will cost the same. You'd have to take the 6-7k kit, then add 2-3k for gauges, install, tuning, etc as well!

So base price of the kit + 2-3k. That's how I get 6k figure for the greddy. So a 7k kit will usually run you 9-10k total.

Apples to apples, people.

Also, greddy fixes is trivial. We're talking about better couplers ($100), and repositioning the wastegate signal. Anyone who harps on Greddy needing a bunch of money to get working properly is biased or an outright liar.

I wasn't saying the Greddy kit sucked, or he should buy another kit, just laying out the expense. I personally will be trying to get the Greddy kit. Of course with MM's upgrade.

The Mazsport interceptor-x and fix#2 for the GReddy kit made a HUGE difference for me so you can tack on an extra $1500 for a proper EMS.

Here is a breakdown of my mods to give you an idea. Prices bellow does not include tax or labor costs.

GReddy turbo kit (TD06-18G turbo) - $3200
GReddy aluminum oil pan - $280
GReddy SP2 catback exhaust - $700
GReddy Type-RS 40mm BOV & flange - $225
Spec Stage 3+ clutch/flywheel (680ft/lbs capacity) - $1300
Mazsport Interceptor-X EMS - $1500
Mazsport Interceptor-X wideband kit - $450
Mazsport ignition solution - $600
AEM Tru-Boost controller gauge - $345
AEM UEGO wideband o2 gauge - $350
Sohn oil metering pump adapter - $100

Total: $9050
