question for the greddy turbo owner!

so I got my turbo back from greddy for rebuilt, and I have the AEM wideband AFR gauge put it, I notice that my car is running really rich at idle, I wonder if that is normal!

I have the greddy turbo kit with the interceptor, tuned by a local shop, and the AFR when idle is at around 11, and I think that is really rich for idle, so I wonder what do people get when idling?

thanks!

I had 12-13 AFR at idle with Int-X. What is your AFR when you are boosting?

I get around 10.5-11 when boosting, so I know it is running good when boosting!

Int-X idle can be anywhere. You have to have a really good handle on it to do much better than 12:1 at idle.
Under boost, 11:1 is safe, but 12:1 makes more power.

oh...now I know that it is normal to have 11AFR at idle then I probably won't bring my car down to LA to have it tune anymore!
I just want my car to be safe, I'm ok with the power right now!

you can get another 25 whp easily by having it tuned, instead of running the stock int-x map. and just as much increase in torque too.

running rich idle is part of the Int-X, but you should have it tuned. You are running pretty rich throughout.

by tuning, I mean tuned on a dyno. If you've already done it, then don't bother getting it done again.

No, its not "normal". Some people have just accepted it as such.

11 is not normal even for Int-X Are you kidding?
you can get Int-X to idle close to 13 with some tinkering.
It will take more time, but the smell is much more pleasant

Crap! I just realised that my post count dropped 20 posts!!! I was 2 posts short of a 1000 before the site went down.
This must be Ryan's way of making me pay for all his beer I drank at SSX

Take a trip to ERC in San Lorenzo and pick up a 16 gallon can of their 104 octane http://www.ercracingfuels.com/ercRul.htm. It is amazing stuff.

Mix a gallon or two with each tank of California faux 91 octane and you'll be able to make gobs more power by adding some timing back and maybe leaning out a bit (having tried that yet because I am totally happy with the gains from adding some advance back).

At 7# of boost on '91' octane, I had to pull 15.5 to 16 degrees of timing to stop it pinging. At 93 octane, I don't ping with only 14 degrees pulled (but I run -14.2 until 6000 rpm, then -15 from 7000 rpm onwards).

Before I gave up on the Int-X, I had mine idling at ~14.5:1.
As I said, it is NOT normal to idle at an A/F any more rich than stoich, its just what some people are willing to live with.

after rebuilding the turbo and putting on the oil restrictor, my car is still smoking blue smoke when cold starts up idle.
anybody might know the reason why?
