Runs great up to 4psi. There is a teeny snag in the valve/inj settings that I am working out. Been too busy trying to get other cars/parts out the door...

Dyno is set for the 1st...

Good to hear the turbo is working out well for you.

Bobby says this car is way faster into boost than before. Nice to see a back to back same engine/turbo/exhaust only real difference being log manifold vs tubular..

Well we got on the dyno with the car, and the car has engine related problems. It appears to me A) the aftermarket apex seals aren't heat treated properly, or heat treated at all, or B) the corner/apex/sideseal springs were not replaced in the engine rebuild and are now shot, or C) maybe the rotor housings were worn out in the rebuild, and now in combination with the harder aftermarket seals are really worn out( and growing in the wrong direction near the spark plugs, causing a drop in compression). The engine doesn't have great vacuum at idle anyhow( between 13 and 15" around 950 rpms). When the car does a full pull @ 12.5psi it just won't make much power. The longer you stay in the power the more the engine VE drops, and when the car returns to idle after a pull the engine vacuum will drop around 4", and takes a good 30 seconds to return to normal. It will also not want to start. After it has cooled down idle vacuum will return. The tune is spot on, and I changed every tune parameter possible and it didn't make a huge difference.

Something is bending/growing in the wrong direction while under heavy heat load. You can tell its not a problem until full boost, as "spool up" is great. We got 9.5psi by 3400rpms.

Street driving reflects same as dyno...

I'll let the owner post if he wants to. I don't want to get into a pissing match with the vendor. Quite honestly I wasn't there for the rebuild, and I don't know exactly what the problem is, and I have no idea what was requested of the rebuild.

If he doesn't sell it, chances are we will rebuild it down the line. Hes got a new kid on the way, and like most of us who are married his wife isn't too fond of the car.

That brought a smile to my face and small tears is my eyes. I'm worried one of these days that my wife will stop threatening, and start actually making good on those threats.

And you must have married your car rather than a women lol. Hows that working out for you during the night? I bet it must cause one hell of a rash j/k

My wife loved the car when I first bought it, I just didn't disclose my intentions when I bought it. Like the fact that I bought it for with the intention of later racing, not because a baby seat can fit in the back. Then there is the obsession with reading and learning everything I can on this hear forum, and the never ending list of modifications. That and everytime I have a car project that goes wrong there is a lot of ranting, curse words, a smaller checking account for parts, tools etc. and then later beer run to calm myself down so I can fix what I broke.

It would probably be a better to say that my wife doesn't hate my car, she hates how much I love my car.

Anyways I love reading these build threads, very informative, looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

It was posted in the thread earlier. The owner of the car (LuckyCat) posted this about the motor:

Chris of Esmeril built this engine. No stud kit and Esmeril seals.

Sounds like I struck a chord, trust me I have plenty of bills to pay. Also been smart enough to not have kids. Just have an awesome lady who has no problem with my passion. Sorry for your luck.

The car never had good vaccum at idle, even when I first tried to dyno tune it with the microtech( never did go above 2psi then).

This was the first time the car was ever able to do a solid pull on a dyno..

Its been a problem for a while.

Is there even one Turblown turbo Renesis setup that doesn't have an ongoing engine issue of some sort?
