ok . Other SC dynos don't tend to flatten out like this one did so I'm guessing that the boost flattening and slight drop was from belt slip ?

Also when comparing with the other Procharger dyno I can see that there is a really large dip for both from the Aux. ports. Could be worth experimenting with them kept closed ?
Although I guess on the road the drop would not be as dramatic due to the faster transition .....

Yes.

I did a pull with the APV closed and lost power.
The 6250 dip can also be masked with timing, but we didn't have enough time to play with it.

IAT Temps?

3- The air filter sits above the radiator, so I will be building a cold air intake box to pull air from the vents in my hood.
Hey HWY8, just curious do you know what the difference in IAT you've seen between your old N/A setup and your current setup? Curious to see how much the IC cools the intake charge with the filter inside the engine bay.

Regards,

Regards,
na with the Ms intake my iat were usually within 10deg of ambiant on around 5 deg when wot. The intercooler keeps them about 15 deg above ambiant until I go wot for an extended time and then they quickly jump to 40deg-50deg or more above. With the current air filter location the intercooler just can't keep up. I hope to get a cold air intake set up soon and my IAT's should stay much closer to ambiant.

Curious if you got your issues worked out with the belts?

Not exactly. I installed a gates race belt and its stronger so it stretched less and stayed tighter, but still slips. I tightened the belt as tight as possible for my last track day and boost was good until the belt snapped. Probably because I had it too tight.

I will continue to use the gates race belts, just a little looser until I can have some custom pulleys built. I would like to go with a cog belt system, but if thats not viable option, I will use the 8PSI pulley I have (more surface area) and have a larger crank pulley custom made to keep the final drive ratio the same or higher. I would like to have max boost at 14-15 PSI, and then just keep the RPM's down to 8-8.5K RPM. Thats where the engine makes max power anyways, plus it will help with heat.

You may want to contact Dave Lemon at Mazdatrix before you embark on THAT project.

He is a pretty busy guy, so I was going to try talking to carbinite racing first. I know they were working with Mazdatrix on the pulley issue.

Just got an email from DNA and they have a cog pulley kit. Will cost be a few hundred dollars but it will provide solid and consistent 13-14 psi.

I'm not sure why he's being coy about it. As some of us were told secondhand, they tried it. Tore the teeth off the belt. Going to a stronger toothed belt just causes damage elsewhere. Think of it as a flywheel. The accel/decel forces have to be absorbed somewhere, smaller pulley just winds both the consumed and stored energy levels higher and higher .....

I got the idea, but I wonder if they made their own pulleys or got the ones from DNA. Dna didn't say anything about selling mazdatrix a cog system. They said they sold 3 cog kits over the last years and no reported belt issues.

Either way I will be asking plenty of questions before spending more money.

So, while in the middle of watching the Steelers/Saints game last night I realized I have been using the wrong language all along; it isn't the front cover but the front iron that is of concern and you REALLY want to talk to Dave. He grabbed me as I was walking by the MazdaTrix booth at SevenStock and proceeded to instruct me on some things they discovered (which surprised all of us) with regard to their cogged blower drive. I am somewhat happy I have taken my time with what I had been working on in that regard for the Pettit crowd.

I am not 100% sure what the front iron is, but I'm guessing it is where the crank pulley bolts to with those 4 small bolts. I believe Dave made his own pulleys and may have made a 1 piece pulley. I emailed him so I will know for sure soon. DNA went a different route. Their setup uses a hub that fits inside the stock pulleys and then a modified cog pulley bolts to the front of the hub.

So, is this why Hymee spent so much time engineering his drive arrangement?

Ran the 8PSI pulley at the track this weekend. Here is the track video:

Had it tested on a dynojet. Made 255HP and 175tq. I hope to be installing a new 12PSI pulley within the next few weeks and get it Dyno tested again and see if Jeff can dial in the tune a little better. We ran out of time last time.
