I wonder why RG did not use this method when porting Charles's engine?

Nah, the best way to deflood is again by use of the underwear gnomes. You have them put on super absorbant diapers or maxipads and dive right in. For a really bad flood you also stuff their hands full of tampons. They can also do the porting job while they are in there, assuming the flood isn't so bad that they can carry their tools instead of the tampons. They just have to be convinced that step 2 is "deflooding rotary engines".

Yeah, but they don't work for free. The last I checked they charged like $30 an hour each. one scrubbing, one taking out the debris X 2 rotors X 3 rotor faces at an about an hour each...

Sand with abrasive is way more practical, and achieves the same result 10 times faster.
