What cap would then go on the oem expansion tank?

He recommended a 18psi cap. I guess the same as the one used by the FD in the air separator tank. The problem is...will the RX8 coolant reservoir will handle the 18psi and will not become a problem like the FD. The FD air separator tank becomes brittle with time.
Juan you have a midpipe catback choke point dont you? The racing beat catback can use the oem exhaust gasket? I have the RB catback also. I cut that point out of it and wielded the midpipe and catback together eliminating that flange.
I wonder how much HP or throttle response are you gaining?
Can you tell a difference between the 93 octane and the 98 octane tunes? What is the difference in the tunes--more timing?

The only thing is the assurance of tracking the car with no worries. I'm sure we could attained a higher whp but we decided to play it safe. That's why the "garden hose" injectors, AFR 10.5~11.5 while 10+ psi of boost and spraying 25% of methanol just to keep the IAT from climbing. The whole idea is to deter detonation. I rather have a "reliable" 335whp engine than a 400+ whp ticking bomb. Yes, 400+ whp will be awesome for street light to street light sprint but not for 25 minutes of constant hammering at the track with ambient temperatures in the 90s.
Besides, I'm a rotary freak but those effin Porsche GT3 RS kick *** at the track and they are for the most part bone stock. Got to play more lotto, ugh!

My old man calibrated skinny butt estimates 10-15 hp difference between what I had and what I now have. Locking the ssv open will also increase the throttle response
so far at my power level (7-8 psi boost--i am chicken s--t) my injectors have not had to go over 92%. Steve felt that was a fair safety margin. I am running the oem yellows and reds with one set of uncapped yellows from Cam.

I'm running an Exoticspeed header (similar to Racing Beat) and Racing Beat catback exhaust. For track use a Racing Beat mid pipe and Exoticspeed hi-flo cat/resonator pipe.
When swapping the RB mid pipe to Exoticspeed hi-flo cat/resonator the car is very quiet and no choking fumes from the exhaust. I can tell if it will pass NC emissions cuz we don't have those emission checks here in Floriduh.

Pain in the ***. I had to do mine then I find out if I have cripple tags so im exempt. Take the SC belt off, throw the cat on or try a spacer on the O2 with the stock flash. The car will run fine with the belt off. I had a bunch of mechanics tell me that it wont run with the belt off and argue till they seen it. I shoulda made a bet.

on the engine rebuild--do it right. The taller apex seals and Cams little secrets add a LOT to power and reliability.
Concerning the exhaust--it is not just the header--its the entire exhaust system that has to be thought about.
A tubular header just simply provides more cross sectional area than the log header. We have zero overlap so a tuned header by normal definition really doesnt work the same. Get a true 3 inch exhaust from the collector back and make it as straight as possible.

So I took it off and drove it NA for a while cause it was my dd.
So I take it a stock flash, with the pulley off, and a aftermarket flash should see me through the emissions testing?

I have seen a few people wanting to buy a Pettit Kit. I have had thoughts about in the past about selling it. What do you guys think the market value is?
I really want a 2007 911 turbo. Short of that, there are no cars (new or used) on the market I would rather have than the 8.
I have reached a point where I can afford it, but I feel like getting the 8 back up to snuff would be just as enjoyable, and definitely cheaper.

If I do this I plan on asking Cam to go over everything with a fine tooth comb. I am hopeful that after all these years we have sorted out the cooling and reliability issues. That is the case, right?

lots of grip but, when it goes, it goes...granted it was my first time driving an AWD car at the limit
yes I realize that it is a completely different driving experience...princess in - cowboy out and all that but, I personally did not like it

I know the car feels like it drives itself because its so good. I guess that is part of the attraction for me?
Where I live if I am pushing that car or my 8 to the limit then I am asking for a wreck. I don't plan on it.

Upkeep on a Porsche is one reason why I never consider them. They can be one hell of a car though.
The pettit kit should not have lost value over the years--used or not. The blower itself is bulletproof--basically speaking of course. Its not like a turbo that needs rebuilding at times.
Cooling this engine still requires upgrades--different fan control, secondary radiator or a better radiator, better water pump, lower thermostat--etc. Cam does some internal tricks also
Oil cooling also needs upgrading.
Plus--I think people have finally realized that this is not really a 9K rpm engine and they have learned how to properly tune it. That certainly helps. Also dont push this engine on the track without the proper octane.
