Thanks---yea we are kinda "relaxed" on track
What I like about this one is that you can see the tach pretty good. That gives reference to the speeds. The speeds on that long back strech is approx 138 in 6th. The front straight was approx 125. Turn 1 --after the front straight is about a 90+ turn. etc etc.
Real fun day. Move over M3's, move over Lotus, Pettit coming through!

If your not getting any codes for the sensors you should start with the coils and plugs. Is your vac fluttering at idle or is it steady? Hows idle, is it rough or steady? 10 afrs are pretty fat, you might have bad plugs.

Thanks, I'll check tonight.
I ordered new 3 sensors because my engine thinks it is lean (p0171) but it run rich (fat)

I start opening everything to check if everything is ok around the S/C...

thanks guys
my contour camera makes it easy--one button deal Phil. Thats the ONLY reason I can do this.

my arm is tired from shifting gears.
I like watching the tach in the vid.
One guy that rode with me said " I could NEVER do that in my M3"!
He was speaking off the transitions and trail braking I was doing. hehe
He couldnt believe I was "leaving some on the table". I never drive 10/10's. I dont have the safety equipment for that.
I realy love the close ratio of the 09 trans and with the synchro saver i could downshift without having to heel toe. Folks couldnt believe that--until I demonstrated.
We had 8 cars on track that w/e.
You should see the "yellow Banana" that was there!

Haven't had my car on it, but I did thrash a couple of Beemers around VIR, great track, run it if you get the chance.

That was sweet, Denny; respect.

However, if we can ever get on the track together, I'll try you in an M3

You are leaving a LOT out there shifting and braking that early.
With the kind of power you should be making, your speeds into the braking zone for turn 10 should be closer to 150 and you should try braking well after the rise.

Tru dat, maybe, but remember, he was setting his hot laps while telling 'yo mama' jokes to the guy in the shotgun, checking his email on his BlackBerry, and texting the wifey about when he had to be home. Throw the prostate problem into the mix, and you're looking at a veritable Lewis Hamilton

Lol! True that! I certainly wasnt serious.

Good eye MM---you are right.
I left a lot on the table.
Not just in early braking , but also in acceleration down the big hill ( i should not short shift to 5th),
I overbrake turn one (after the front straight) --working on that, but that turn is a hard one to get right--flat to banking and you have to trust the car/tires/track a lot.
I dont use all the trackout of turn 5 (after the esses)--if i did i could enter faster and take it in 4th gear
early brake turn 6 ( before the turn 7 that leads to the long back straight) --i should be trail braking there to catch folks
Should be taking the car to 8K instead of 7.5K I can actually feel a little power difference.
I was shifting without using heel toe--shifting while braking demostration. So I was rowing a lot of gears--it was fun.

My car starts getting "light" at 125mph+ and by 135 to can really feel it. My max speed for the w/e was 140mph. When I crest that little hill on the back straight at speed, its really light and you dont want to be slapping the brake momma. At 120mph or so you can get away with very late braking there, but faster than that --it starts changing. I am entering that 90 degree turn at about 70mph--you have to stay wide to get it pointed to the apex of 10b so you can be back on full throttle as eary as possible. The entry speed to 10a is not as important as getting the car pointed to 10b correctly. But then, i shoot myself in the foot by not maintaining max accelleration approaching turn 12 (down the hill).
There is a lot of dive bombing happening entering 10a. But this is just a fun event.

With a better alignment ( i am running only a -1.5 all the way around), no passenger, 1/2 tank of gas, getting rid of my 42 lb battery, and spraying less w/m I really believe my car is capable of sub 1:40 min times at Rd Atlanta. However I am probably a 1:43 driver
For DE events guys -----ALWAYS leave something on the table.
It was 95 F that day humidity was around 50%? Temps were great--not much difference than regular driving.
I did use some w/m though -- constant high rpm's will suck it up. Using boost juice --dual nozzles with a final jetting of a total of 235( 60 before blower and 175 post blower)--that kept my charge temps at the lim at 130F. If I dropped back to a 100 post blower temps would shoot up to the 150F's range at times. Especially at high rpm part throttle running.
I guess I could have reset my maf controller for earier activation to address that, but it didnt happen very often at all. Just usually in traffic and going through the esses.
Thats the only time I got a little misfire--it doesnt like part throttle high rpm operation. Happened once.
Wonder why? lol.
I will post another tonight with Don (Silvereight) riding with me. Don currently is winning the TTD in NASA for this region.

Around here, DE4 is, effectively, TT without transponders.
We all run it like TT and we all know each other, so many of us opt to stay in DE4 forever!

Hmm. I wonder what is different between our car's aero?
I haven't seriously looked at my aero, but the car has no real change in feel all the way up to 155 or so, which is fast as I go around here. I would be surprised if the MS nose really had that much of an effect.

I hope to become a profession hpde driver one day. True that--gets just like TT
This was my 1st time with this club. They did a really great job.
I am oem GT--no appearance package/parts/wings --nothing. I am naked.
09 nose doesnt lift--speed source had a hand in that. MS nose lifts about an inch according to shock sensors.
Tracks with elavation changes can cause as yall know---light times. It gets reallllllll interesting---especially for some other cars that dont transition as well.
My car stays stable at speed, but you can tell that the hook up is NOT there during the light times. You have to be careful at several areas on Rd Atlanta. Seen it time after time.
I bet VIR floks can talk about that too.

I talked to Nick Ham and Sylvan Trembley about aero up in NJMP, and we were talking about the front splitter on thier car(SpeedSource), pretty much if you offset a 2.5in profile of the MS front bumper(in conjunction with the MS bumper of course) you've got a very effiecint design for a front splitter. As for the rear Mazda has data that demonstrates the MS rear wing in combination with the MS rear bumper will produce downforce, how much at what speed, I dont know.

EDIT- there was also a interview on SpeedSource TV about how much more downforce they were seeing on the 09 front bumper, but again the numbers were released. This months racecar Engineering just arrived in my mailbox and I just flipped through it ,looks like next month they are doing an article on the #70 GT car, should be a great read, although its an entirely different type of chassis, doubt they;ll go into aero in a meaningful way,,,

aero--is a good thing that pays off every day. Even at 70mph.
I am STILL trying to get the 09+ underpants as the pre 09 chassis is really very dirty to air.
Stiff front spitters good on track----bust on the street if you are not careful.
I hear that the amount of downforce from the MS spolier is hardy worth the effort?
Best thing that could happen is that they would let our windows to be closed on the track BUT--that may not be the safest thing to do.
Air is funny stuff--per RP!

Hey has anyone ever removed the intercooler itself?
Any pics's? Just a bolt on job?
Reason I am asking--about 2 years ago my oil vent system clogged up while i was on track and the motor pucked oil all the way through the intercooler and s.c. and out the intake---it had to go SOMEWHERE.
Now I am sure all the w/m I have sprayed over the last 2 yrs have probably helped to clean all that up, but I am just wondering. I cant get the air intake temps below 125F once the car is fully warmed, even during 65F ambient temps. Funny--it doesnt seem to matter what the ambient temps are--i am going to end up with around 125F intake temp. even when the ambient is 90F. I dont remember it being that way. So I am thinking it wouldnt hurt to look at it.
Can it be removed without pulling the s.c. itself?
