Pardon the silly question about dyno and Cobb AP

I'm ordering my Greddy kit tomorrow morning with a few other side notes including the Cobb AP. My question is, by answering the "11 deadly questions" thing, will I get a map that is good to go without further tuning? If not, what role will the AP play with the dyno tuners themselves? Will they be able to save files onto the AP for me?

I'm having trouble understanding the relationship between dyno tuning and the AP.

*edit* Sorry, this should've been in the engine tuning section.

MM's base maps are pretty good, and should get the turbo running.

If that's the case, then will the more precise tuning will have to be done on the dyno itself? I came across the thread about Cobb sending updated MAPs to customers who subscribed to the service. If that is the case, is there even a reason for me to drive an hour to San Jose for dyno tuning if the same thing can be done via email through Cobb's MAPs?

Not Cobbs maps - MM's IF you buy thru his website the price includes his tuning service for the first six months, (or until it's right....)

Oh sorry, I misread your post. Ok, I think I understand now. Looks like if I go through MM, I can save myself a few bucks of would-be dyno time. Thanks for the clarification.

If you check out MazdaManiac.com there's a wealth of information about the accessport including the process for newly installed accessports.

Please review these two threads as well:
Cobb AccessPORT Discussion

You'll see in the instructions that you are provided access to a base calibration used for data logging purposes. The only way, currently, to dyno tune your RX8 is to have MazdaManiac come to you and dyno tune your RX8 or you would have to have another tuner create a completly new map.

MazdaManiac's maps cannot be altered or changed by accessport customers.

Everything is done via email.

Review those two threads and check out the installation video on MazdaManiac.com and that will answer most if not all your questions.

unless you pay for him to come out and dyno tune. This has been done in the past by groups and will lead to the best tune. It's also been known to lead to men with no neck yelling "that's how I roll".
