Nitrous Install Going Down Next Wed. Any Comments Appreciated...
I am having my nitrous installed next Wed. I was wondering if some of the other Nitrous users would have some helpful hints for me. I'm having a local yet very reputable shop do it for me, but they have been given a copy of all of Charles R. Hills instructions / suggestions to follow. The guy I got the kit from said he could only run a 35hp shot. I am looking to run the 55hp shot. If in the event something goes wrong, what am I listening for when I do my first trial run with it? What can I expect? What should I do if I hear something abnormal?
Kit being installed includes =
* Zex 8021 Wet Kit
* Zex Remote Bottle Opener
* Zex Bottle Heater
My Mods =
* K&N Drop in Filter
* AP Pulley
* Greddy Pullies
* SR Motorsports Mid-pipe
* Greddy SP2 Exhaust
* Cobb Access Port ( Still running Jeff's baseline tune b/c he has been so busy he has yet been able to check my settings and send me another level tune )
Also one last question. Has Jeff released a Nitrous map yet that advances timing to allow for a 65 or 75hp shot to be stable???
Please only post if you are going to provide some experience or words of wisdom.

lol thanks Rote8 I have read, re-read, talked via the phone with him and I feel the performance shop has a clear understanding of the install. I'm just more-or-less worried about what I need to listen for to ensure it's running right. I'm getting 6 HP pulls on the dyno for free. I want to do 3 for a Baseline and the other 3 w/ Nitrous. I just don't want my engine to go BOINK

I zoom therefore I am.
looks like Jeff is doing a live swap for at least the next day... http://mazdamaniac.camstreams.com/
Just be careful with your shots, you have 3 runs to tweak it so use em.

^^ And be sure that once everything is installed and ready for a test run that you turn car on, pressurize the system (use remote to open the bottle) and THEN get out of ur car, go back and inspect the connections for leaks as well as pop the hood and check for any leaks.
Luckily ol Ray has good hearing cuz when we went out for the first test run he could here the low "hiss" of a small leak in the trunk and we were able to torque that connection tight prior to making the run......remember that Ray? he he ahhhh nostalgia

My esteemed colleague, MazdaManiac, doesn't know JACKSHIT about nitrous so you'd be talking to a brickwall if you ask him anything about it(and that's if you can get him to respond at ALL!). I still love him like a brother, anyway.
Flash, it has been proven time and time again that; 1) The RX-8 will easily handle a 55 shot but 65 and 75 are not recommended, and, 2) You would need ignition advance REDUCTION to use larger shots than 55. The AP hasn't yet been configured by MM to safely use larger shots.
Have the shop call me if they have issues or questions.

1. get the BHR spacer so you don't really have to drill a hole in your intake
2. whatever you do don't cut the f'ing stock fuel line
3. open the gas hatch for a while to let the pressure bleed out, whatever anyone says, this is ******* true and evidence by the shitload of fuel squirting and not squirting when I did my install and uninstall and then install again
4. set the solenoid WOT before you place in the lines
5. make sure everything is tight unless you want a fireball on the highway

How does one install a wet shot without tapping into fuel somewhere?
Are you suggesting a separate fuel tank in the trunk for use by the Nitrous?
No, I am not being sarcastic.
I am thinking of adding a small Nitrous shot soon and want to be clear on what is required, and how to do it correctly.

no I suggest you go get yourself a new fuel line, only costs 20-30 bucks man, trust me
2-3 8s already burned because of tapping the stock fuel line

1) Don't use stock fuel line.
2) Buy new stock fuel line, use that.
Again, what/where DO you tap?

uhhhh, well, don't buy STOCK fuel line, buy a better fuel line
see the problem when you splice the stock one is that sometimes it slips and uh, bad things happen
