05; grats on the turbo install! Although I would love to have a pro do my turbo (down the road), there's just something about the sense of accomplishment one gets by doing it yourself.

grats, can't wait to hear the reviews once you get the tuning all dialed in

I'm in the mid west, so you would have to take a 2 day trip

Thanks man. I was able to do some tuning today a bit. That is one quick car! I haven't even messed with the boost. What a difference. Hello torque!

So jealous, I can't wait to get mine installed. I'm literally green with envy because my turbo is just sitting in a box in my living room.

Whatever torque gains you have over stock, the 3071R can double!

you have to be careful with these things. if you get too much torque the number rolls over and you end up with less than you started.

Just wait until you have to shoehorn the GT3071R up in there. It's an unbelievable tight fit.

It's easiest to install the oil feed line prior to the turbo going in. I shoved the turbo and manifold up in position, the pulled the turbo back and installed the oil feed line with the turbo held against the firewall. I also installed the water lines at this time, but the GReddy turbo doesn't have those.

I was lucky as I didn't get any leaks from my oil feed or return. I used a gasket and some RTV silicone to hold the gasket to the return pipe to keep it from walking off, and some ontop of the gasket to promote a better seal.

Did you ever remove the passenger side motor mount? You don't have to in order to get the OEM manifold out, but I can't imagine getting a turbo and manifold in there without pulling the mount and bracket and raising the motor.

The downpipe nuts were the biggest bitch for me. At 6'7" I don't have tiny hands or fingers, so I physically had a hard time tightening those nuts. But it all got done in the end, and then I blew a coupler off!

I'm sure, can't imagine how that is! Since my turbo is used, it may crap out earlier and I guess I will HAVE to get the MM upgrade.

Yeah, I did take the pass motor mount off and the bracket. Pretty much everything on the hotside was the biggest bitch for me. I'm a n00b1!!1

It is definitely challenging. Hopefully you have someone else there to help you. No fun doing it alone.

Here is what my engine bay looks like now btw:

This is kind of a teaser pic, I will get some better ones soon.

Hey looks good man, When you get everything tuned you should to a "test" of your car vs a stock RX8. None of the Turbo'ed owners have shown a good video, and I think it would be a good compairison that alot of RX8 owners thinking about going FI would like to have

Clean Install, You could possibly route the Oil Catch Can line along the Strut Bar instead of having it circle the Upper Intake Manifold.

Thanks. That's a good idea. It is hard however to show the difference on a video. Really the best way is to either be the actual driver or a passenger. I will see what I can do tho!

Yeah, never thought of that. I'm waiting on my matching GReddy strut bar. I'll see what it looks like and go from there.
