They probably didn't sell to many.
Highway8 has one.

i knew it was just a matter of time before the gate to the corral opened.
Nice. Very nice
question--what rpm redline are you using and what are you planning on keeping your oil temps too?

Hi guys

Great to see that after 7 long years you are still working on the RX8 power increase .

Hi Jeff Mazda maniac

What is happening with you these days long time since my Yellow RX8 days . (Lock & Load )

I am currently driving a 2002 Spirit R Type A RX7 last of the Twin turbo ones .

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...93#post3782793

Running hi-flow revolution turbos putting out a conservative 310 HP -- 231 RWKW @15 PSI more than happy with my set up .

How is live treating you my friend , good to see that the RX8 has come along in the power stakes .

If you ever decide to come to Australia dont forget to contact me .

Cheers
Michael

So the long and the short of it is that the car ran great throughout Friday and Saturday practice, until it jumped the accessory belt and the engine got real hot. So we elected not to compete on Sunday and risk further damage, and we had already locked up second the season championship.

For comparison, when we were here in May with the supercharged setup, we recorded a best time of 1:58.7. In practice this weekend, we were down in the 1:54 range on old tires.

Since Time Attack season is over, we probably won't rush to fix the car right away and will likely spend some time in the coming weeks on our turbo systems for street RX-8s.

To answer some previous questions - the cat on the car came from Jegs, and is essentially a straight-through which doesn't rob us of much power, and the oil temps were kept around 220 on track.

The ProCharger was shelved in favor of the turbo for improved reliability and more potential horsepower.

You jumped the accessory belt, what exactly did that break in the process?

Btw- Who is this? Dave? Kyle? Someone else?

Stops the water pump and the alternator.

Oopsie ..... The more I consider it the more I like this idea. While the early PP housings add overlap relative to a Renesis, the Renesis side ports allow a higher exhaust flow without the excessive overlap a heavily ported PP housing would produce ....

Right, l pretty much assumed that's what happened. I was curious as to what damage was actually caused when "the engine got real hot" and what it is exactly that they have to "fix"...so it doesn't happen to me or any of us for that matter.

Brettus 11-17-2010 10:15 PM

Hard luck - hope the damage was minimal and you can get that bad boy back in action soon .

TeamRX8 11-17-2010 11:05 PM

I can say from personal experience that the Renesis seems to be much more sustainable in that situtation than the typical rotary engine concept :uhh:

MazdaManiac 11-18-2010 12:31 AM

I run mine waaaaay into the "danger zone" on a regular basis. It hasn't complained so far...

mike1324a 11-18-2010 04:30 PM

Great work Mazdatrix! Nice numbers. I had this very idea many years ago ( https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...55&postcount=4 ) and I am glad to see that my idea works and see it implemented years later. I will be watching this build.

Apparently a small disgruntled group of heavily damaged Renesis engines are circulating a petition to call BS ... :cwm27:

lol. Yeah, the previous two engines got pretty badly served by overheating. I don't run the current motor that hot.

stinksause 11-18-2010 11:59 PM

so how hot is danger zone ... inquiring minds what to know ... for turbo and NA

also

have you ever had tranny overheating issues?
