Hymee gets Supercharged (Part 2)
I believe the system that produces the most efficient, reliable power that I want with the least fuss to be the pinnacle.
For some people that changes things.
I have no issue if you (or others) want to strap a blower on your RX-8, go for it. A lot people here just have some glaring misinformation and misconceptions about other systems and that forces them into an uniformed decision.
I would honestly say, after you lay out your goals and budget, go for a ride in a turbo RX-8 and then a S/C RX-8, and then decide. I did.

Hymee is due to show up at the inaugural 2008 Nats at the Lakeside Raceway in Queensland. Hopefully he will have his car fully set up and ready to battle for the fastest lap times.
There will be a range of other standard, modified and turbo RX8's present as well. To date we have around 23 members from this forum turning up.

I'll be there. But lakeside isn't the place where I'll go 10/10ths. It isn't as forgiving as QR or Wakefield. But I'll be there and enjoying myself.
Cheers,
Hymee.
PS - Bring S/C deposits

interesting, I love how clean/sleeper it looks. Would be awesome if the IC were painted black with radiator paint =)
Does this supercharger ALWAYS make boost? or if you're just cruising or not heavy (light loads) on the gas not make boost like other SC systems or a turbo? It doesn't make sense to be in boost if you're just on a light load (but you said hitting the acceleration on CC will put it into boost)

yeah man If I had known some more specifics on the Supercharger I might've saved off on the rims I'm getting =d, I didn't even know it was done yet or near it LOL, You guys look like a top class company and for some reason I trust your company (even though I've never bought anything from you ........ yet). So yeah I want info's

how about telling us more about this
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=159352I installed my own supercharger design and hymee was good enough to help me tune the car using a base map he had. if I had driven hymee's SC before I started my project I probably would just have bought his kit
but I'm happy with how my little project is progressing. they are completely different animals and hymee's SC would offer substantially more low torque compared to mine. I'm using hymee's sCANalyserPro tuner software and hardware to tune my car. it's a great package akin to cobb's accessport. it has the same maps since it's the same engine management but hymee's gives you access to everything but it's kind of overwhelming when you first look at it however you can choose to look at only certain maps. I'm really happy with the package even tho I haven't made many changes yet. slow and steady for a beginner like me.
I'm sure hymee will give an update when he has recovered from his birthday celebrations!
I must have got the same flash as you did rotaenvy .
Worked like a charm on my turbo setup .
Have noticed a slight hesitation at 4000rpm under light throttle - goes very rich . Have you seen the same thing ?

my car is mostly in closed loop between 3-4k and 14.7A/F. it is fairly rough around there. I think I did notice the rich patch you mention as it passes 4k however it doesn't feel flat but the problem may be being masked by my systems which feels kind of dull off boost. When I transition to high load (boost) @ 4k the car smooths right out and feels great.

Sorry for the hiatus in spamming my own thread
I've been pretty busy with lots of things going on. After I got the car to Lakeside RX-8 Nats 2008 and back without incident, I decided not to rush anything. At the moment I've got the blower off while I do two things. The first is to put some higher rated bearings on the layshaft. Now I've got some ceramic roller bearings that can stand the higher RPM's than what we were spinning the originals ones. Some might have heard the pre-existing "rattle" at idle at Lakeside, but there was no failures to speak of that day. I.e it was still running properly apart from some bearings that were complaining.
The other thing I am doing is making up a remote mount oil filter. As I had the car presented at lakeside, it was impossible to change the oil filter. That is now rectified - well once I decide on the lengths to cut my braided line and install it all again. The new bearings are fitted, so it is all set...
Here are some pics from Lakeside, courtesy of Jambos...
The first is pretty much how a standard RX-8 looks when you open the bonnet (hood...)

The next one is how my car looks with the supercharger installed and the engine cover fitted. This is how I drove it on the track for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th sessions:

No apologies for my warped sense of humour.
This next photo is how the kit looks with the engine cover removed. I drove her like this in the first session:

The daggy white wires are for a couple of thermocouples I have attached to measure intercooler effectiveness, and are not a permanent fixture.
And finally, a couple of action shots:

I must admit I didn't drive the car really hard due to the very restricted noise limits at lakeside at the moment, as well as the dubious measurements taken... But it did go very well, and was a dream to drive on a hilly circuit with the abundance of torque. The fastest man on the day, who happened to drive an NA car, took her for a couple of laps and said "It's got bucket loads of torque!!!".
Anyway, I'll post some more pics soon enough. Once that is all done I'll get it tuned and run some numbers. At the moment I am running a base tune, essentially what I provided to Rotarenvy to get him grinning from ear to ear.
If you have been waiting, it is time to get your cheque books out.
Cheers,
Hymee.
