How Much Should I Pay For Porting?

Guys i called a shop and ask them how much they charge to port a rx8 engine and they told me 600 $ that sounds too cheap , the shop is located in long island ny .they said they already did this and are getting 45 to 50 hp at the wheels with a street port nothing crazy. they also put a turbo on an rx8 already. has anyone heard from this shop (smokinjoeracing)

Perhaps that wasn't including the costs of pulling your engine?

that's a lill pricey for just a mild port IMO...but if it's a good job then i guess it's worth it. Yea it'll be a lot to tear apart the engine i bet. Went to there lill forum...not many posts but it seems they just have it so when you ask a question they can respond with "call the store" hehe. but it never hurts to ask price's i like to shop around forever befor i get something.

There are very few places I would trust porting a rotary. Lots of people say they can do it, few places do it good.

so porting is quite risky for the engine, right?
I mean when someone is not that good...

600 is actually a really good price for renesis porting. there's TONS and TONS of removal and shaping in the exhaust areas. the intake ports are a breeze, but overall, the job takes 2-2.5 times longer than it does with the rx7's.
