Yes that's true, just that Sylvan is the contact I always use.

They're all great people.

Quick update on the Esmeril seals :
Been running conservatively - 10psi to about 6000 tapering down to 7.5 at redline .
Done about 3000km so far and have had 2-3 detonation events . These all occured on the same day . I think I may have crossed trailing and leading plug wires although I'm not 100% sure - could also have been a faulty trailing plug .

No sign of any damage : cross fingers .

LOLZ

I've had 5 detonation events in one day on my new engine. Everything was fine. She runs great now even though I'm back to NA. :crying:

The renny is a pretty tough engine IMO.

crossing your spark wires and incurring detonation is hardly a recipe for making a Renesis FI engine last

maybe i did - maybe i didn't . But your post is pretty pointless unless you actually think I would do something like that on purpose .:eyetwitch

can't help myself, making funny quips at people who have no sense of humor is a personal soft spot for me

Plug wire separators especially if you're using those hot LS1/LS2 coils with a stiff dwell. Don't ever, ever, ever, ever EVER allow plug wires to lay atop one another.

Brettus,

Sorry you grenaded your engine, mate. It's inevitable if you boost it.

The only way to make the engine last is to keep it NA, IMHO.

Show me a bunch of FI Renesis engines that make it to 100k miles and I'll take it all back; but 'till then the proof lies with 100% of the FI engines failing.

uhhh...he didn't grenade anything...read his post again.

He detonated several times, and no sign of damage yet. ;)

Chris

p.s. Way to go Brettus!

wow,,

show me a bunch of pre 06 motors that make it to 100k miles and then make a judgment. :)

beers

100% of ALL engines fail, its just a matter of when, why, and how

RX8YA 03-18-2010 07:29 AM

^ I agree when you go turbo or SC you just have to come to grips with it. When or where it happens is the key.

Hmmm - could that cause a detonation ?

No, YOU read. Why do you think he had to rebuild it ? He's talking about the post-grenade rebuild, which only has a few thousand kilometers on it. I hope it lasts forever, but that ain't the smart way to bet.

Yes, all engines will fail eventually, but by any reasonable measure they should last 150k+ miles.

Do you think your engine gives a rats @ss whether its intentional or not before decoding to let go?

Disagree here, as bearing failure is possible (20W-50 is my favorite)
I have seen even normally aspirated 12A and 13Bs fail bearings due to thin oil.
Totally agree with everything else...

Yeah - my engine likes to do a little decoding before letting go :evil_laug
