I have no doubt! The initial phone call I got was evidence enough that either I wasn't speaking the same language or my instructions were simply not clear.

I do know that the level of modification to the car was enough to provide some hesitation. The primary point being that if you plan to heavily modify the car beyond what the engineering was intended then you best be prepared to be the expert on it .

Just picked up the car on friday and drove it home ! Havent driven it much yet but it definately feels strong in the midrange when I was cruising home on the autobahn. I used the last tune I got from MM to drive it home, so needless to say I'm going to have to start the datalog/tuning process over with MM--- the intake/exhaust porting being the biggest change to engine.

As far as the build went everything went great, Javier20b is truly a rotary head and can pretty much work on rotaries with his eyes closed. The guy has all the specific tools and parts needed to work on rotary engines---anything other type of engine, not guaranteed lol. Showed me pics of his past builds back home and some of his buddies cars, he even showed me an article in Super Street where he was mentioned as the engine builder on one of their feature cars. Pretty cool stuff.

The damages:
-Broke all 3 apex seals on front rotor/ replaced all with Rotary Aviation apex seals
-Front rotor gone/ replaced with used rotor
-Front housing gone/ replaced with brand new OEM housing

-Broke 1 apex on rear rotor/ replaced all with Rotary Aviation apex seals
-Rear rotor slight damage/ was able to salvage the rotor
-Rear housing had 1 (!) gouge down the middle/ had to replace with brand new OEM housing

The porting and polishing of the intake and exhaust ports turned out great, much larger and smoother openings. He left for helicopter training recently but hopefully he can log on soon and post pics from the build!

Haven't driven it much, javier20b told me to break it in alternating between steady state with some occasional pulls and change the oil after 500 miles.

Racing beat template doesn't touch the secondary ports and does not make the exhaust port that big.

I am mainly concerned with the exhaust port though being wider..

At this point it doesn't matter, whats done is done.

I'm well aware of the porting template I've ported 5 sets of irons.

From the pictures it looks like you cut into the outside of the port (side that faces the manifold) a little, making it wider that will reduce engine longevity.

So they don't touch the secondary ports on the instructions.

What they call the lower intake port I call the secondary port, it looks like you cut into that pretty hard.

But that doesn't have to do with the exhaust port... Which is where my main concern is.

I've never cut into it that hard, from what other members have experienced the corner seal starts chewing up the exhaust port when its been opened up too far like that.

Since you are using solid corner seals I am assuming its going to cut into it harder.

I could be completely wrong though, only time will tell.

Sorry for that. Atkins solid corners and aftermarket apexseals for rx8 not rx7s.

Nice!!

have you had good luck with the solid corners in your other builds?
I used them with mine, however I milled my rotors for rx7 apex seals.

has Rotary_Redliner got a different tuner or is he going to risk MM again, MM blew my motor the same exact why, I have been tuning for myself ever sense.

Very good luck with them never had any issues. He is still going with MM but the motor is much stronger. He lives an hour from me so it's easier for him to doit that way plus I told him to go easy.

MM tends to push the cars much leaner then necessary, I had a complete tune done, did a dyno, and he wasn't happy with it so he leaned it out a few more tunes and boom.

I hope he has better luck this time.
