Fuel supply for FI

With the addition of a SC/TC and the likely hood of us turning up the Boost more than say 5/7 psi, I know there will other issues to work out, But the one I wanted to bring up is Adequate fuel delivery from the fuel tank.

Rotarygod , I know you and I talked about it briefly but I wanted to get info more for all to have.

I have the Workshop Manual and at looking at page 01-14-8 you will notice that the fuel tank does divide itself, and maybe there will be a problem with adequate fuel delivery at higher Boost.

But if you will notice number (15) on that page you will see that (15) is the retainer for the fuel pump, and it shows 2 retainers, 1 for each side of the fuel tank.

My question for everyone is does it look feasible to have a fuel pump in each side of the tank, (since the holes are there from the beginning) and T or Y the fuel lines together and maybe run one larger size fuel line up front with a regulator to solve at least 1 fuel delivery problem of supply..

Hey Guys don't abandon me, Rotarygod, Hymee, Charles Hill, Richard Paul and the rest of the experts please chime in.. I know this is'nt as exciting as the Turbo threads, but in some time in the near future we will have to be concerned with this issue.

I'am still waiting for either the SFR/TC or the Pettit/SC, that's when I will buy, but I would like to resolve as much problems before putting it all toegther.. All comments would be appreciated..

Jeff Abrams mentioned in one of his turbo posts that he thinks the fuel system has plenty of room to support more power. How much, I don't remember. He probably didn't do a flow test on the pump to see but he was guesstimating by vitrue of the sizes of the injectors and the duty-cycle readings he was getting during tuning. I'll soon be putting a digital fuel pressure gauge on to see just how much power the fuel system can support. I can tell you from experience that we are good(so far) up to 280 net rear wheel horsepower.

Well the reason I Brought it up was the fact that SFR said they were maxed out at the 280whp with the current injectors, and were going to supply new injectors with their kits. So my next step was to figure out if we needed a bigger fuel pump or duel standard ones installed in the spare openning in the fuel tank....

I am thinking that the fuel pump will hold out for a little while because I have no perceived pressure problems when I am using the nitrous. I think we have the volume from the pump but I haven't toyed with the injectors, yet. I tend to wholeheartedly trust Jeff on this one even if he refuses to answer my queries. In the next few weeks I'll be strapping on my own turbo kit and I guess I'll find out then what is going on. I still anticipate the need for a 255 Walbro, Weldon, or similar, eventually.

Should we be adding a fuel pressure gauge to the cockpit?

Depends on the h.p. level/fuel demand you have going. I wouldn't worry about it unless you have mods similar to mine.

at 85% they should be good past 300 hp, maybe up to 330.
