I ran the OE fuel pump down at the very bottom for a number of events this year, including several trials events with long WOT upper 3rd gear exit sweepers in both directions and not even one hiccup, funny how I never have the same problems other people claim are typical on an RX-8 ...

I opened the other side of the tank opposite the pump and it was bone dry, the pump side had about 1/4 - 1/3 still full. is this normal?

No, you have an entirely different set of problems.

Because you don't run on a real track.

Your track is flat, not off camber, and on a road race track, the sweepers hold side G's much longer.

It's not just that, it's the length of the session that overheats the pump
Autocross stresses the engine for a shorter period of time usually.

no comparision between road racing and autocross, even the driving requires a different approach. Both good--just different.

my apology, I didn't realize you were there as a personal witness and had any clue about the series of events that you're challenging me on

fwiw it wasn't an autocross and I've seen my share of goofballs playing Nancy granny panties on a real track

my fuel gauge needle was on E and I'd estimate the course being longer/larger than Roebling Road but with less elevation change (not a real track, right OD?) which I have been on pre-RX8 and yes there is off camber blah-blah-blah

.
Look Team - it's obvious to all of us that you don't have these problems because you are just too slow !

Ha!
You have autocross events that are almost 2 miles long? I have never seen that? Not saying its not true---I just never have known of one.
You have to admit that the autocross typically has a lower adverage speed and is shorter in distance. Also the typical autocross will require less WOT time? Each turn is usually not as long either.
Autocrossing is a skill of its own. Reactions and responses from both driver and car are usually much faster but shorter in duration than Rd Racing? Least that is what I have seen. Car set up is different also--heck you know that.
In relation to the FP issue--its all about how long it takes to empty the cup when it is not being resupplied fast enough.

Bret--cant replace the fuel filter on the S1 model. You can on the S2

Bingo!

We run for about 20 minutes at max power, whereas, I've never heard of an Auto X run going much over 10% of that time.

I did retract the Roebling Road statement because I went back and found that it was only 1.5 miles, 4 - 5 hot ***** to the wall laps in a row at 1:10-11 each, fuel gauge needle aligned on E, other people claim they suck air under 1/4 tank on autocross courses so I was surprised not to have on this road type course, but otherwise you may be right

you don't hear much at all, it wasnt an autocross event and spare me the max power for 20 minutes, you are not a pro anymore than I am

Of course I'm not a pro, but any idiot can stomp the gas, and stomp the brakes for 2 minutes or 20 minutes!

On a track without cones, I'm either on the gas or on the brake while using 3.5 gallons, and that is a hell of a heat load whether I'm competing or not.

Yes, you actually compete, not just following high performance cars, and going ***** to the wall to keep up like HPDE.

I can nail some corners, but I'm not consistant nor do I claim to be good at it, but I've run Auto x, too, year round, and I won't do track time except in spring or fall because of the heat load.

Look Team, I'm not a troll!

You've got way more RX8 experience than I do, but you don't hide the fact that you're arrogant, and you don't act like a team player.

Sentence Deleted

I'm kinda easy going so I don't care, but the RX8 is definitely a thinking mans car, and I've really enjoyed figuring out how to get the most out of it.

So I'm gonna be nice to the noobies, and be helpful instead of being a dick.

You like to horn in on everyone's deal here, but you don't give any insight, just bravado.

In fact, I'd like to come see what the hell is going on in your RX8 world of Autox.

I'd be happy to learn from your wisdom!

How does it feel to have someone who wasn't there telling you what was going down I thought so.

Had this happen on Sunday ......

Yellow fuel light is on but only just came on .
Into a 90 degree right hander - took it at a reasonable pace (so fuel would have sloshed into the LHS tank sadle) . Then hard on the throttle/boost through 2nd and 3rd then into 4th .
1/3 way through 4th and Bam ! hit the wall . No gas (at least that is what I think happened).

Thought the Walbro pump would have coped with this situation ? Anyone else had anything similar happen ?

I think that, in the end, it is needed a bit more than that to obtain the best results. Charles and\or Jeff should be able to point out what as i don't remember it right now!
