We finished our waste gate installation and when that think opens
the car sounds really loud...........

With 9 psi of boost in 3 gear we increase from 260HP to 276 HP.
This is not the HP increase numbers we was looking.............

But we note that at high boost and high rpm we lose our fuel pressure, the pump
is not working properly we can't make more HP without the necessary fuel pressure.

This fuel pump is damage is only two months old but
is making a bad "sound" (like cavitation), we're goin to replace it this week.

Should have stayed with the stock fuel pump - it was more than adequate.

MazdaManiac, do you know what the stock fuel pump's capabilities are? LPH or lbs/hour?

Hi Manuel,

This is probably the best thread I've read on this forum so far. I'm rooting for you to hit the 300hp mark

Apologies in advance for dumbing down the discussion a bit, I really like your wheels. Are they Axis? What model? Are they 19"s?

A follow-up question- will 19" wheels affect performance/handling assuming weight is the same as stock? Will they screw up the speedometer readout? If so, how do you fix that?

Thanks again,

Josh

We installed the new pump because we have detonations on 4 gear
and a 13.6 AFR. We found that the factory pump system has a regulator to a predetermined
pressure. We installed the new pump with a vacuum regulator and eliminated the factory regulator and our car moved to a 11.6-11.8 FAR at the same boost (5-6 psi)

Also we installed the pump thinking on future modifications like bigger injectors (850),
fuel rail, and a new ECU that can control ignition time for each spark.

Josh,

Yes those are 19" Axis Hiros. To don't affect the speedometer readings on a big way, usually when you move to a bigger wheels you use a "lower" tires. I'm not a wheel/tire guy but and expert on this can explain how to make those calculations.

As you mention our goal is 300 HP with 93 octane gas.
When we go there.................the goal will increase.

thank you for your support

Nice man, what size is that greddy turbo. If i get that kit i will be replacing that turbo. Why dont you buy some RC 750 injectors and just slice into the harness?

RX803,

The Greddy is a ( T618Z (T4/T3) )

Thank you for your suggestion but,
I already buy the 850 injectors, ECU, fuel rails, coils, damper, etc., etc.
We are waiting for some other parts but our plan is to finish
the car before or near May 20. (I'm goin on vacation on May 28)
The big problem for us with the greddy is not the turbo is the emanage.
We already resolve the ECU problem and we're going to use the greddy turbo
with the new ECU, injectors, etc. we will see how much HP we can get with that turbo
If we need to replace it an option is to install a Garrett T35, that turbine is used by my mechanic in a lot of Rx-7 in Puerto Rico and they make big HP. More than 400 HP.
Our plan is to get 350 HP with the greddy turbine.

Manuel, at what boost pressure did your detonation issues in 4th gear appear? I ask because I am having a similar problem with my nitrous system. MazdaManiac has said that the factory fuel pump has two modes- high voltage(255 lph) and low voltage(155 lph) which would seem to provide the volume necessary, but I am wondering if now having the "N" flash has changed fuel volume delivery. I am at a loss here. The car runs great with the "N" but when I use the nitrous it is not working as well as it used to.

Charles,

The detonation problems was at the begining with the Greddy factory boost (5-7psi)and map.
That happens before changing the fuel pump. Now we don't have any
detonation problems and we are running with 9-10 psi boost.
But as I mention before now we're goin to install another Walbro pump, the actual one
is making a loud sound.
If you have detonation problems probably you need more fuel now........ or in the future.
Changing the fuel pump is not expensive.

Talking about other thinks..................................

I was thinking about other modifications that we can do but you don't.

You need to take considerations: if it CARB approved, if the CEL is on you don't pass the inspection, cat, etc.etc.
Puerto Rico is a US territory but our car inspections are so easy to pass...........
here you see cars that are "street legal " but they really don't pass any inspection.
I can't live in any of the states!

Cretinx,

The Greddy turbo it's suppose to handle those HP, but at what boost?
I think that no ones know it or try it.
With the big changes that we're goin to make, we're looking to get the maximum
HP that we can't get from the greddy turbo. If I'm not satisfy I would change to a
bigger turbo. Let's see what happens.

Thank you

Manuel

It was between 236-238 when the car was making 260 HP in 3 gear and 273 Hp in 4 gear.

Now we have 276 HP in 3 gear but I really don't check for the new Torque number.

Thank you.

If nothing bad happens I have plans to begin next Monday the installation of the new injectors, fuel rail, ECU, etc. I want to have all the parts at the shop before installation.
I don't use the car every day but I hate to see the car on the shop to much time.

I would post the results..................

Manuel,

I've heard (and seen picutes) of a Blue custom turbo Rx8, with 400HP at the wheels, the car has been tuned at El Psiquiatra, have you heard of this car?

Yep, I was the person that post those pictures on other thread. The owner of the car is Ramon a very nice person and another freak rotary guy. El psquiatra is working On that car now on put to work the air conditioning, speedometer (they needed to replace the factory one) , on that car he removed all the factory cables and a lot of things like the electronic trottle. Basically now he is working on electronics things...............

On my car we're goin to use the same ECU (I can't tell you the manufacturer, sorry but for this guy's this is business) that in the blue one except that we're goin to keep the factory ECU to control the air conditioning, speedometer, alternator, etc, etc. That is goin to save us $5,000.00. I'm gettig a benefit that he
worked before on the blue one and learned a lot during that process.

The Blue one was a 9 months project because He need to do a lot of custom parts but in my car He is goin to do everything in a week.

Galdy "El psiquiatra" is one of the best rotary mechanic in the world
a lot of people in the US know about the RX's that came out from that shop.
Imagine if this guy's are on the rotary business that Jim co-founder of Racing beat is the wedding godfather of one of his brothers and usually visit the shop every year.

Here is a picture of the blue one..................393HP at 19 psi boost

you are correct.
The motor hasn't been opened.
The plan is to lower the boost to 15 psi and run the car on the street for a few weeks
to see how works. In the dyno the car run's without detonations and with FAR 12.5.
First he need to finish the electronics, imagine that car without air conditioning in Puerto Rico you know that our humiduty index is more thn 80% all the time.

You're Puertorican?
