Agreed that it need to be tuned. But is there a reason it would start up fine for the first two days then all of this happen all of a sudden? i think i am going to start another post asking for some screen shots from other esmeril kit owners.

Temperature, humidity,...

Thats the downside of running a MAP based FI car, constant yearly tuning

I Installed some maps that i got from MM that he had on his setup a while back. I still get the exact same no start situation. I will try again a little later. This is odd.

Checked all of my vaccume lines again. I figured maybe the one going to the int - x was compromised but it was not, and all looked good.

Could the INT-X Map sensor stop working? If i am orrect there is a sensor inside the INT - X that is why the Vac line is running into it. This would explain why it would start on the Stock ECU but not the INT-X. It would also explain why it was running rough all of a sudden but would not start once it did die after stopping in my drive. This could also explain why it would jsut fall falt on its face as soon as it started seeing ANY boost. Maybe it was not a going rich issue but a Faulty MAP sensor issue. Anyone??

There is no Faulty MAP Code on the Int-X but if your vacuum hose is leaking somewhere this would throw your MAP readings way off and cause running issues. Check that, hoses sometime generate small slits that could be cause....a bad Map Sensor is also a possibility.

Best regards,

Chris

I am planning on looking over all the software tonight. I placed in the maps that MM gave me yesterday and still got the no start issue. Can not really tune anything if it does not run.

I found the esmeril tunes on the dongle and was able to upload one. Tried starting the car, and i got the same thing.

I put the stock exu in again. Started up and i let the excess fuel burn out of the motor. Tried the INT- X again with the esmeril map uploaded and still no start.

Ok last thing... Push start the car. IF that doesn't work, take it to a garage or something.

Hope you know how to push start a car. Set the car into ON position with your keys, then go 10-12mph, push the clutch in, go in second gear (Second gear is best on this car) and then let the clutch out. IT should start after that and remember to keep the car running so that it doesn't stall, press the accelerator abit if you have to. After that go on a spirited drive

Try turning your coolant correction maps off so it won't adjust while trying to start.

You can test your map sensor with an air compressor at very low psi (like 4-5). Hook up the int-x and turn on your car and bring up your software and watch the map sensor while a friend blows a little air into vacuum hose connected to the int-x.

If the software reads out 4psi or whatever your air compressor regulator is set to, you know it's accurate and that's not the problem. If nothing is read then you know the map sensor went out.

I would also double check your crank map

Well, I got a little ambitious working on the car and decided to see if something inside the int-x was a mis. When removing it from a car it had a slight burnt smell to it which was not a good thing. after opening it up we found some interesting things. Like how its pretty much a microtech unit, a relay, and a jumper harness. Well upon further inspection we discovered what i believe is my problem.

These pictures were taken after the melted and burnt heat shrink was unwrapped from the three wires and all of them were melted into one giant mess.

The plan from here is to hit a radio shack, see if i can get some new resistors and redo all of the burnt wiring.

Hopefully this is my only issue. what you guys think?

Ya that looks bad. Replace all the burnt wiring with proper connections

You didn't know the Int-X is a Microtech EMS?

OH i knew. Just figured it was more then a repackaged unit.

I replaced the resistors and rewired the relay. i tried it out and one of the resisters burnt up again. i will look into it more in the morning.

One thing to consider is to diagnose WHY this happened in the first place (especially since it happened again).

Is the proper 15a fuse in the power cable to the Int-X?

Looked at it a little further this morning. The resistor that keeps frying is the line that goes from the PCM to the Fuel pump speed controll relay. (LT Grn wire). I check the connector at the ecu and the connector for the relay at the fust box and it has continuity.

What is the relay inside the INT - X for anyway. A wiring diagram of this section of the INT - X would be nice

Well, found that my coils were now fried. Which they were not when all of this first started cuz they were one of the first things i checked. So i am htinking that the INT-X is burnt up and is causing other issues. Put my stock coils back on and got the car to start off hte stock ECU again. No go iwth the int - x that i have.

If the car starts off hte stock ECU ( starts hard but holds rpm at idle) would getting a new INT-X be all that i need to do for my car to run like normal again?

Phish, if I were you I would remove the intercept X. I think the unit you have is malfunction and it causes other problems on your car. Running stock coil and stock ECU would be OK I think as long as you don't get into boost. Check all the wirings too and the fuses. PM Chris or Jason from Mazdaparts.com, either one of this guy can get you a new or used interceptor X. Chris can program the interceptor X before he ships it to you. You need the right parameter settings specifically for this kit in order to have it runs smoothly.

I am using a used interceptor X that they got me and the car runs smooth. I run esmeril coil with stock plugs right now but will get that change to colder plugs before tuning. I have a minor oil leak on the intake manifold at the connection near the dip stick right now so I have to take the intake manifold apart and realign the gasket. The gasket doesn't seated right. For now try not to drive your car. Remove the trouble interceptor X, replace the coil and fuses, fix those burned wires and wait for a new interceptor X with the right parameters for this kit. You have another car to drive around correct? Hope everything workout for you.

I am working out a deal on a NEW int x now. the old one is totaly removed off my car and will not go back on. Its hard to start my car on the stock ECU so i am hoping that it will start up fine withe the NEW int- x inplace. Hopefully the New int -x will fix my issue and not fry

That sucks big time. I hope the new INT-X did not cost you a lot of money.
