A normally aspirated RX8 will overheat on the track even with the other mods so adding an undersized turbo to the mix and an intercooler partially blocking flow to the already undersize radiator while also kicking out hot air in front of it too is only compounding the issue.

Having the fans run on full speed even while moving has known to drop the temps a good amount. Yes, even when moving at speed. This, with a set of FAL 3000s should do wonders.
Moving the condenser out of the way has also shown good results.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been working on other projects lately, haven't completed anything on the RX-8 yet. I have started on a couple other things but not enough progress to post yet.

Sorry it has been a while since I posted but I got a lot of work done while I was away. The hood is finished and installed. The battery has been relocated to the trunk. And the intercooler has been raised 5" from its original mounting location.
I haven't done any track testing yet. The first couple HPDE events are scheduled for late March / early April at MIR with SCCA and NASA. First impressions from highway driving are good. Cruising at 70mph, water temp does not go above 165* F and oil temp stays around 140* F. Prior to the mods, highway cruising at 70mph yielded water temp of 185* F and oil temp of 170* F. I know highway cruising doesn't tell the whole tale, but I'm feeling pretty good at the moment.

it's cold here in AL.... is the weather a factor in cooler temps?

It's cold here too. I'm just a little north of Memphis TN. I normally see 195F in the middle of the summer during cruising and 185F in the winter. Now I'm running 165F in the winter. I think 165F is too cold for normal operation.
Just to clarify, I never had overheating issues under normal street conditions while NA or after the turbo install. I started overheating after the turbo install during track sessions. So I won't know if I made any improvements until I run my next track session which should be coming up soon.

I ran my first HPDE after completing the vented hood and intercooler relocation a couple weekends ago at MIR. Outside air temps were mid 70's to low 80's. I was able to run the car flat out all day with no over heating issues at all. The car stayed between 195 and 200 all day long. Oil temp was pretty steady at 220F all day. I am going to call this project a success. I was able to lower water temps by 40 degrees on track and keep my A/C in tact!!

No, I wasn't monitoring intake temps but I wish I had been. The air I take is the next thing I want to work on though. I am still running the Greddy hot air intake and Airinx air filter. I want to replace that with a cold air intake similar to the RX8Performance unit.

search for brettus thread on adding an aux temp sensor. this way the AP can see BATs(boosted Air Temp) rather than IATs

I researched IAT sensors and think I should relocate mine to somewhere after the intercooler. I'd like to go with the GM sensor which means the sensor calibration will need to be changed on my current map. Ti am running a Cobb AP tuned by MM. His maps are locked and as far as I can tell, the sensor calibrations on his maps are locked too. Does anyone know of a way to adjust sensor calibrations on locked maps?
If not, I can think of 2 options. 1) leave the IAT sensor as is. Is relocating the IAT sensor super beneficial? 2). Attempt to tune the car myself so that the map isn't locked. I am extremely hesitant to go this route. I have very little (like 0) experience tuning efi systems.

I think it's beneficial. I saw timing being pulled when IATs were high. It's not an accessible map in Cobb AP.
