Yeah ... when it's that hot ...you really need an ethanol mix.
That does sound like plenty of premix ...... is it possible your plates were resurfaced and all the hardening gone ?

They were definatly lapped so thats possible not sure if they were renitrided or not. Engine only had 6000km on it and a couple of track days.

Find out how much they were ground .... anymore than 0.05mm is too much.

sorry for your troubles; obviously fuel is a major contributor. Boostane is well known for high deposits as indicated in the pics and likely contributed to both wear and detonation

It looks to me like there are other issues going on besides nitrided or not; which is I don’t recommend porting in general. Dumping hotter, higher pressure gasses earlier on a side port likely isn’t helping wrt some of the other things either, neither is having less support for the side and corner seals. The 0.92 housing would not generally be contributing to the issue wrt neg emap, but there might be other issues with piping and flow restrictions elsewhere that may be contributing instead. Because the boost value seemed a bit high for the output (15.6/376) at the beginning, but I’m not sure what may be different now rather than back then.

maybe a new NA engine having an issue at 1000km, followed by two turbo engines having a different but identical to each other issue later might mean something; again, hard to be sure.

Thanks for the input guys, i believe it might be a combination of no nitriding and porting too, i will be building a completly stock motor and will likely get a emap kit to be sure as the adaptronic can use it for fuel map aswell

The first REW engine I blew was on 25 psi with AI and Torco (same as Boostane). Chipped the corner of the apex seal from audible knock (showed over 250 knock counts) while racing a Coyote Mustang.

Later I added ethanol into the mix and usually ran from E30-E50, I never had another audible knock situation again and never saw another high knock event and pushed the motor to 30 psi in some cases.

This confirmed to me that even E30 is way better than a full can of Torco or Boostane. I think those additives help give you a bit of safety on pump gas, but shouldn't be used as a way to bridge the gap between pump fuel and E85.

I agree ... E30 is a great compromise fuel ............... Excellent knock resistance without the need for all that extra fuel flow that E85 requires.
