I already have a 1.01 vband so will stick with that. Was just pointing it out as I hadn't seen T3s for the G30 before.

they’re still another week or two out from shipping, but suit yourself then.

@Brettus have you seen the vid about the Mazdatrix hybrid engine. They have a dyno chart. It doesn't look like it is as quick to spool but makes similar HP/numbers at 11psi.

in addition to us all being aware of it starting from over 10 years ago, it’s pretty much just bits and pieces of pulverized dead horse from all the beating

Yeah , I don't think there is much worthwhile that came from that.

Thanks for the link! I liked your description of the port timing differences and how it effects boost, scavenging, etc.
My plan is still to follow a lot of what @Brettus has done with his build. It looks nicely streetable, which is mostly what I care about.

you definitely don’t want to do that mod on a street car for sure.

unlike the G30 though, they aren’t providing much dimensional info for all the housing configurations yet.

Found out yesterday that it will be distributed in late March

at one point was wondering if you were in direct collaboration with him because he seems to walk step in step with you on recent things, but am confident that wouldn’t be your choice in turbo, which he claims there will be good to 8500, lol. Seems like he must be lurking about but he’s had a bunch of similar BHR type products with his own brand name on them too.

I suppose when you’re dependent on just copying other peoples ideas you’re also prone to making mistakes lacking understanding, the same understanding needed to develop your own sound ideas.

Def. nothing to do with me ! His customer (who has never had a turbo Renesis) thinks it's better than mine though. Cuz good design is all about how shiny it is ...

It uses a Xona turbo, but isn't utilizing their new UHF turbines...why? That's like the whole point of a Xona turbo... I guess the older models must be cheaper, I reckon.

Seriously ? Oh dear , that's going to be a hot mess. That turbine is smaller than a Greddy !!!!!

Xona turbos with model numbers ending in "S" means it uses the "UHF" splitter-blade turbine design. The lack of the "S" at the end means it uses the older traditional turbines, which aren't even listed on Xona's website anymore as they're being phased out. And their choice of using the XR5448 is definitely on the small side, imo. Also, the fact that they're using a TiAl 0.8 A/R housing means it's the IWG model (as can be seen in the pics). The EWG V-Band housings are either 0.63, 0.82, or 1.03 A/R. Btw, does anyone know the price of their kit? I don't see it listed...

Edit: I'm also surprised they didn't use the opportunity to utilize a X2CF90 compressor housing since they're doing a low-mount setup. It's basically a X2C compressor housing that has a (fairly gradual) 90° bend that would point the compressor outlet towards the front of the car. It's technically designed for a GT-R, but I don't see why it couldn't be used for other applications. I think it would be nice to have since some members have had leaks/issues with silicone tubes on that 1st 90° bend. It'd 1 less point of failure to worry about.

Well ... the Greddy uses a 55/65 turbine with a 0.73ish AR and that's a 48/? in a 0.82 ...So if it's old tech. it's not gunna be any better than the Greddy. Really bad choice IMO. I's not like there aren't way better choices in the xona range either.

If they went w/ an "S" model turbo of the same size, it would be the XR5451S, which uses the same 54lbs/min HTZ compressor wheel but with a 51/57mm turbine that features their "UHF" splitter-blade design. It would certainly be an upgrade compared to the XR5448 but still too small for a 2 rotor, imo. The smallest Xona turbo I would consider putting on a Renesis would probably be the XR5757S but my personal preference is actually the XR6564S. I guess their top priority must be spool/response, but a turbo that small is simply choking the engine. I'm having a really hard time trying to understand their thought process when designing their kit...

Btw B, do you think it's a good idea to use an IWG housing?

I know the guy behind RRP well. He is a respected small trader here on the UK forums. Although you disagree here, he has your enthusiasm, commitment and eye for quality; I think you'd get on well with him. I have a couple of his products, a 200 CEL high flow cat and an ignition coil set with remap; their quality is impressive and I'm very pleased with their performance.

He has produced a very shiny manifold, see here. Please keep any comments constructive.

I may disagree with B on some technical aspects of his manifold, but with the EWG it’s clearly a significantly better design than what was done there on that one point alone. Shiny or not, IMO that won’t be anywhere near optimum for IWG and will be further compromised by the undersized turbo being proposed. Again, seems to be overlooking the obvious.

At least we agree on that detail.
I'm not going to suggest mine is the best possible design 'technically' but results do matter, and the other benefits of the design far outweigh any further improvement that could be made.............. IMO

well yeah, both our positions are IMO which is a good reason not to get wigged out over a difference of opinion

we’ll find out at some point if Garrett ever comes through with the T4 0.92 AR housing. With copycat artists like that guy around I’m keeping it under wraps for now. The one thing I’m willing to reveal is it will be fabricated in mostly T347 material. It might even be “shiny” if I’m feeling kind sparky about it at the time

not sure if you saw this;
