Went to the dyno a couple of days ago . Nothing exciting to report . Made 360whp on 12psi and decided to stop there as we weren't getting a good incremental increase in power from 10psi (340whp) .Also because I'm a little gun shy after my last engine . The dyno is conservative so these are pretty good numbers for the amount of boost . The owner of the shop did take a video so ................

Nice numbers! I know you wanted more but this is still great. I quit chasing numbers cuz I want to spend more time driving the car vs working on it

It might be that you have already answered this but thread was too long;
If I remember right, you improved early spool by running center exhaust into one of the scrolls. To theorize a bit, why not run all exhaust to one scroll at low RPM, and the have a valve to open at higher RPM? I can see the practical challenge fitting it, but I would expect the double gas velocity to spin up turbine earlier, even if its only coming on to half of the area.

Actually I run the outer ports to each scroll and the centre port mostly to the wastegate .
Running a quick spool valve was actually suggested earlier in the thread . I'm pretty much done with experimenting now though . The setup spools up pretty well and makes good power . I do have some thoughts on how to improve it but that will have to wait till the next rebuild. For now I'm just enjoying the drive .

heh ......... setup is going great . But I had a bit of an epiphany the other day in relation to my two stage exhaust setup . I think I actually lost power with it so am remodifying that modification again to try rectify the situation . If that little plan works ..........

Should be done by the weekend .
When I had the two stage done , I thought all that mattered was that the WG side flowed enough to prevent boost creep . That was a very bad call in hindsight . It really needed to be big enough such that it didn't create anymore back-pressure than the main exhaust.
I'm pretty sure it's the reason I've struggled to make power ever since it was fitted.

The middle port has to flow sufficiently all the time or there are going to be problems. Even NA race cars can blow out the port divider under the right conditions. It's greatly amplified in a regular turbo setup, moreso the way you're trying to swing it. Sorry to be debbie-downer, but still holding to the belief from way back when this started that doing it that way over combining it all equally is a mistake. Hate to see you keep mowing through engines, but good luck just the same.

You might have a point . Then again ..........How many other renesis turbo engines do you know of that are full spooled up before 4000rpm and make over 400whp ?

Let's back up. Read my prior post, then look at the pointed question you fired back with. It'd be nice if you used the same microscope to judge yourself as well as others. I didn't come in here to start anything and tried to make that clear. It was just my experienced-based opinion it would've been nice if it could just be that and nothing more. You're free to do anything you want with your own car otherwise; including building full spool by 4k,400 hp engines with a short suicide fuse. However, there were several of those that came and went before your own.

My prior technical opinion wasn't a personal criticism. There's plenty of social skill improvement to go around.

i think you'd find people a lot more accepting of your advice if it weren't laced with condescending remarks. You do often have good advice, just not often the best delivery.
